no, not my car, mine's a '92. my buddy has an '86 GL wagon, similar color to mine, 5MT Part-Time Dual-Range 4WD. It's spent most of it's ~120k miles in colorado, so the underside of it is almost as clean as my loyale's! Anyway, he's a bit of an idiot when it comes to maintaining cars , and has all but killed the Carbed EA82 in it. I'm thinking about buying it, fixing it, swapping it, and reselling it. with the rear disc conversion, stock EJ22e with stock management, the PT4WD trans, and some new GR2s. it would get awesome highway mileage (FWD on the road), go through just about anything, handle.....decently...., haul stuff. awesome daily driver/ice racer. I'll also include my snow tires, since I can't use them anymore. 155/80r13 Cooper Weathermaster Studless. price would be in the $1500 range. and some of it would need to be up front (yea....so I'm broke....what of it?). would anyone be interested in it?
not always 4WD and has 2 ranges. has a lever next to the shifter through which you can select FWD, 4WD Hi, and 4WD Lo. and it's true, non-differentiated 4WD that you cannot use on dry pavement. only pic I could find of it is this: mine's on the right, his on the left.
^ jeff might be interested in the cooper studless. I am trying to convince him to bring the hatch to the ice races. so he will need snow tires.
it would be amazing... I'll see about the buyback, but apparently my insurence company doesn't allow that for some reason... but chux, either way i'm pretty sure you're building me a car, k?
yep, nate's car. apparently he bought an XJ..... sure thing. I'll start the process. only downside I see for you, is it'll be awhile before it's done....I'd say at least a month. probably closer to 2.
bump. due to the current owner not being able to make up his freakin mind about whether he wants it or not. Saabaru ended up buying something else. so, back to square one. here's his FS post on MN-Jeep: "My winter beater from last year...I've moved up in the world, so it goes. It has around 165k miles, runs very strong, has absolutely NO rust (it was from Colorado) and gets upwards of 28 mpg. It does have it's issues though. The passenger side fender has a sizable dent, one of the corner lights is broken and the headlight switch went haywire. I didn't want to go to the junkyard and pull a switch, so I just wired the tail-lights (what stopped working) to a little red switch. The rear bumper cover is held on by some zip-ties. Otherwise everything works. Dual range 4wd does wonders in the winter...I once plowed a trail for a Dodge 1/2 ton through some heavy snow. The interior is extremely clean. I'd like to just keep it around for a backup vehicle or something, but it's taking up space at my parents house and they want it gone. I have no place to put it here in Saint Cloud." the issues mentioned would be fixed. converted to rear disc brakes, radiator and clutch replaced, and a '96 impreza EJ22e installed (Justin's old motor). all for 1500-1700 out the door. better hp/weight ratio than a tleg. better mileage (in FWD), sweet gearing, lots of cargo space, etc.
sorry....should have updated this. the car is sold, and the prep work for the swap has begun. see "project NCC-1" in the pictures/videos gallery for progress.
