This is not spam or trolling, a regular user on here just writing my thoughts on something. I'm a co owner of Aluminati Sound LLC, we design and manufacture hi fi audio related products. We are considering the possibility of getting into the automotive industry as well. Things like (to start): Pitch stop Motor mounts Transmission mount Tumblers (TGV Deleted) Air pump block off plates Alternator and radiator shrouds Battery tie down My thoughts were to make only a few of each and see where it goes. If more interest arrives, more parts will be made. Many other products could be made as well, since we have the capabilities to welding things like downpipes, up pipes, headers etc…. Maybe i should try opening a vendor account here and IWSTI/Nasioc. Just thinking out loud. What do you guys think? Matt
Id be interested in testing out some of those parts for you.. I've also had an idea for something that may or may not be a popular part that I've suggested to Grimmspeed everytime I've been there and they don't seem to want the idea.
I wish you luck but with a platform as old as this the market is already pretty flooded with those kinds of parts. Unless you can differentiate on quality or price (by a large margin) an unknown company will have a very hard time selling. There is more money in being a leader or fast follower on a new platform like the new 2015 WRX than competing with established products or cheap chinese stuff on eBay. Like I said, I wish you luck but I think you need more than just access to a Cnc machine and welding. Unless this is intended to just be a hobby to help people out and make a little money.
Current part prices are insanely over inflated, so having real world prices would be very appealing and grab attention. Aluminati Sound is a side business and this will be as well. We sell direct to keep prices as low as possible and to avoid middle men. We have always thought of this as a hobby and have a lot of fun doing it
If you can produce those things at a much lower price then that is awesome! I wasn't trying to be negative at all just offering my opinion.
No negativity It's hard these days to have a full blown business because there are so many in each industry. But like you said, if you have better quality or prices then the next guy, your in a good place.
We'd welcome you as a vendor here Matt! Could be useful to test the waters here locally to get some honest user feedback, cause I don't believe that NASIOC vendor accts are exactly cheap - and there you also have to deal with the unwashed masses aka entitled broke hater whiners I've got a couple of ideas along the lines of the small parts you mentioned that might be useful, I'll PM you. Sort of like Nhibbs said, IMHO the niche that could be successful would be to not "race for the bottom" (anyone can crank out cheap overseas battery tie-downs), but instead offer parts that are unique (in terms of application or design) but may be too small of volume for the Grimmspeeds of the world, who want to sell thousands of a part in order for it to make sense economically for them. Kind of like Turkeylord's blue tee replacements. I for one would love to get a set of TGV-less risers that are less expensive than the IAG billet ones! :
I've thought of the same thing when I started my company, but I think a better market for me would be firearms accessories. Would you be up to producing any parts for me? I am completely just in testing phases....not selling yet.
I vote labeling everything "gay" that is made. "Oh that's a gay battery tie down" "gay pitch stop" etc.. In my young dumb mind, it would be funny.
Hi Eric, You wouldn't mind PM'ing me details on getting a vendor account would you? And pm me about those small parts you had in mind. The reason i got an STI was because there are so many options out there for aftermarket parts but at the same time it is very hard for a person to get into this market place. For the TGV's i'd make a set for my car for starts. Mine is a 14' STI, would this fit many other model years? We can certainly help you out pm me your ideas.
