http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=49123 Thought Chux and some of you might find this interesting. He just started the thread so don't expect to see a ton of progress.
Jeebus, do they not salt the roads in Ontario? That body looks better than 99% of the bugeyes on the roads here lol
Nomnomnomnom, it's is epic shape too. It's been ages since I've logged into the BBS, last time I checked most of the members went full retard.
Yea, he started a thread on the USMB almost a month ago. I'm not sure he knows quite what he's getting into, but I don't know. We have someone come in 2 or 3 times a year with some of the parts and some ambition to build something, but they're not up to the fabrication and junkyard hunting required to turn that car into something like that. He does have a good start, and I'll be watching that thread closely....might be almost as cool as suberdave's wagon http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=130943 In his USMB thread, he says it has 18k miles on it. So I doubt it's ever seen a winter.
Yea, I think he might run into more fabrication than he wants to do. I really don't think a DOHC motor is going to fit into that engine compartment without major modification. It's super tight on a GD Impreza let alone a GL from the 80's. How did I sense that you already knew about this Chux? seems anything old and Subaru you are the one to go to.
the DOHC engine will fit without modification, actually. But the 6MT will not. The EA82 transmission tunnels got wider in '87.5 when they introduced the 4EAT. So he will likely need to completely cut out the transmission tunnel, and fab a new one in. If he's smart, he'll cut that out of his XT6 parts car before he gets rid of it. Also, he says in his legacycentral post that it'll weigh 2300......no.....it just won't. Yea. Car's like this are really sweet, but almost nobody actually finishes them, so I keep my eye open. With the exception of Suberdave's wagon: EJ257/20K hybrid, VF37, ViPEC ECU, 300awhp, 6MT, R180, Tein Flex, Brembos http://wordpress.suberdave.com/?page_id=166
At the end of the day its still a cobbled together ****box, its not a Porsche. Porsche murderer? Yeah, maybe 924s and 944s.
^Just because 944's skid plate is an oil catch can doesn't mean we should discount them as a Porsche. They have the hood emblem and... well they have that.
NICO has a history of overstating everything. Don't ask how I know that, but I've been on that forum for over ten years... The fact that he is using an OEM ECU means that he will be handicapped from the get-go. Just like his previous 500 whp cars that never were proven. We still don't know what turbo he is planning to use.
