Anyone here ever go there for the street legal drags? I have been going for years when my work sch. permits. Its in sabin mn. Was just wondering wtheck happened. Went there today. NO ONE TAKING MONEY. Said o o bad sign. Drove in hardly anyone there. Maybe 10 cars and 30 people. Place was a ghost town. I know they have new people running it and tintmasters is not the sponsor but ouch. This is the only outlet for legal racing in the area. Is it because a Harley Biker club is the sponsor now? Saw about 3 bikes there way to represent lol. Not sure whats going on but thought maybe someone on here would know or tintmasters could throw in their 2 cents. here is a pic from last year when i took my kid. The fence was full last year this year 0. There was 1 person in the stands ONE. Sad we couldnt even ask what was going on because no one seemed to be in charge. Who do I ask the hot dog lady? lol
This is some of the story I heard: IDR is under new ownership/management. They decided they did not want Tintmasters as a sponsor and that they could make more money on there own doing things their way(Which, from what I have seen, they have lost MAJOR $$$). They raised the prices of getting in for racing after everything was set for racing this year and then pretty much Told TM to get bent. So non of us have even been out there this year. That is a quick story on it. If TM wants to say more, that is up to them.
^ this... I heard they are stupid strict on rules and cars have to be exactly to the rules, which pretty much nobody with a street car is going to do... It's a shame, a lot of us loved to go there and looked forward to it from year to year...
It's ok... It's just really sad cause there's some really quick cars up here that are very fun to watch...
There is one on Aug 1st. Im thinking of running then. I have to try it even stock. You never know it might be my last chance.
Its a few miles outside Moorhead MN. I pretty much just went to the street legal drags when I could. http://www.interstatedragways.net/ Check the 2009 schedule. Make a road trip out of it. You can do as many runs as you like.
better hope you car will pass tech, i guess they are really anal about it now... This is why I dont ever waste the trip to go (6 miles)... not worth the money to make it pass the rules
