Not really, I only use apple products,
I just hate seeing a new thread for every new device.

Plus your link sent me to the app store

Edit: I tried again, and it didn't, user error!

Edit again: I was right, app store, :(

I didn't see a reason to pay for the first 2, why would I care about this one? I can tether my 99 dollar HP touchpad running android to my android phone and get 4G right NOW. Not that it matters, since the phone has the same dual core 1.2GHz processor the tablet does.

Don't worry. Gizmodo will be ****ting their pants about the new iDevice 10 times a day like they do everytime Apple waves their magic distortion field wand.

ya its cool having it all unlocked n stuff, but its just that I don't care... I don't need to do the extra ****, I need it to last, be reliable and do what I want it to do when I want it. My friends epic fails so hard I'll never attempt going android, every update he does screws it up...

So, people are developing reworked operating systems for iPhones now? Or is iOS still closed source.

You would think that. But I doubt it. He already has a new account on here, and it isn't this guy. Plus, this guy is already 3 posts into this thread and he hasn't begun frothing at the mouth and telling everyone how special he is because he has an iPhone and went to college. He also hasn't started ranting about some extremist left-wing view of reality that may or may not be related to the subject of Apple. If you want to see how Taras nut-swings all things Apple, go over to mnsportcompacts Offtopic forum and search "Apple." I guarantee, if it has Apple in the title, he's in there. You'd think with Steve Jobs being dead now for a few months, that his dead balls would start to taste musty or rancid, but that really doesn't stop some people from trying to mouth-rinse away the decay.

Hell, when I made a guess that he had an iPhone, he shush'd me. The real Taras would have bricked in his lady pants at the thought of someone being able to identify him as an iPhone user without him having to say it directly.

Yup, this. I don't have an iPhone largely because I am ADAMANTLY opposed to how they run the dev side of things.

Edit: and jailbreaking is ghetto from a dev perspective.

Exactly this. Everything about Apple development smells bad. With Android devices, you can buy it and use it as is, or you can do a quick search for the name of your device and "root" and find out how to get root access. Then you can search for your device name and "roms" and come up with about half a dozen stable releases from 3rd party developers that have reworked the Android codebase for your device, or they have taken a new version of Android and built it for your device. If I want to run third party apps, I simply check the box in settings to allow third party apps, there's no 'jailbreaking' or anything like that.

I'm missing a testicle. When I was a wee child, I fell into the outdoor penguin enclosure at Sea World and it was pecked out by angry penguins.

It gets worse if you're actually a developer. Much worse. I won't get started, I've had 2x large caribou coffees (BOGO for leap day at Caribou for those not in the know ;)) and it will take some time.

Want to borrow mine? It's very small and soft, due to the fact that it hasn't been battle-hardend but it's better than nothing.

Also, OMFGIPADTHREEEEEEEEEEEEEE'Z COMING*DROOL/FOAM* Looks like I'll be taking out a second mortgage to buy another iThing from Steve Jobs.

Some say his genius is so powerful he's still revolutionizing the industry from his iGrave.

Ask me next week after I have this demo app knocked out. ;)

from a developer support standpoint, so far WP7 is whomping the piss out of iOS. Still not as good as android though.

I have a galaxy S2, tried the galaxy Note and I'll still take my jailbroken 4S over them all. I admit that a stock iPhone is mediocre but the jailbreak is what does it for me and it way more simplified than android I think. It's all personal preference. I personally like the abilities of the iPhone better. It's a lot more stable than my S2 that's for sure. To me the android phones, at least my S2 and Note feel like pieces of crap compared to the iPhone. I still like the Nokia 8800 but to bad it's so outdated.

It's nothing new, jailbreaking has been around since the 2nd iPhone. Possibly before. It runs iOS, it's just an "open" source or whatever you'd like to call it.

I don't think you guys are getting the point here. The fact that you're comparing a system that you have to find ways around, as opposed to an open source system that you can tailor to your liking without doing some janky ****. This argument is getting REALLY redundant every time some new iWhatever comes out, because you all **** a brick and want to go blow some paychecks on it.

No one cares what you want for a phone or tablet, honestly, especially when its the exact same as the last.

That's cute. Having access to the operating system source to build the OS from source isn't even remotely the same thing as being able to turn off the lock that keeps you from loading 3rd party applications. On my development PC, I have the entire source code for Android 2.3.3 and Android 4.0. I downloaded it using the SDK from Google. I am allowed to do whatever I want with it, so long as I don't redistribute it as my own code for profit. If I want to port Android to a device that doesn't run Android, I am more than allowed to simply write drivers for that hardware and integrate them into the code base, build Android with those changes, and load it on that device and use it. I can change every aspect of the OS, and Google will NOT come after me for it. If I want to use the driver base for the phone I currently have, and output a build of Android for it that is completely clean and free of all Google applications, Sprint applications, and other 3rd party bloat ware, I am allowed to do that. iOS is not "open source" as I call it. It is entirely CLOSED source. And they treat their developers like dirt.

also, I found it ironic that you needed Windows to jailbreak that iOS. they've also started dual booting Ubuntu to Androids, which is cool
