Just wonder if anyone here is getting a sweet $500+:eek3: :eek3: Cell phone/PDA/computer/vibrator/and so on?
hahaha I'm sort of anti I-everything (because of this trend of making everything I things ... like it was with E things a couple of years ago) and my phone already does all that stuff. Except hold mp3s, but that's ok for right now
Classic example of sticking way too many things in to one unit and having to water it down. At it's price range it should have a lot more features then it does.
I think i might get one after it goes down in price a little. I have a phone that does all of this too. I have a cingular 8125(htc 8125), but it does a very $hity job at it, because it is frikin windows (under)powered. I pretty much hate it now.
I'm going to wait a bit and see how it goes... then wait for the second version where they include the features everyone wants (GPS, 3g...etc).
good point. I will start saving like 50 bucks a month month and will have enough to get a second version
No where near what GPS is. That just shows you destinations, it doesn't show you your location of offer routings. The new Sprint PPC-6800 (Mogul) is more of a phone/pda then the iphone will ever be and it costs 100 less. Yeah, it doesn't have the ipod built in but it does play mp3s. Long story short, Apple should have included a lot more.
Huh? Got a link? Last thing I've read few weeks ago - no gps in current release, to be added in a couple of months. And I want fully functional GPS. My current phone also 'kinda' has GPS, but its not accessible by users without a signal from the provider, so absolutely useless. Google maps suck anyway
Google maps is not GPS. GPS features can announce turns and directions. I have Google Maps on my BlackBerry Pearl. It works as well as going to the website and getting directions (at best). As far as the touch screen... have you ever seen what happens to a Treo after heavy use? I do like the direction they are trying to take the I-phone. I'm sure that there will be more features for less money when the other carriers are allowed to sell it.
I know what you are saying, but Iphone uses totally different screen. Its a multi-touch screen. And i had my pda phone for over a year and the screen is still working fine.
umm, my ppc-6700 i run bluetooth gps with i guidance software. vent mount, in car charger, software, and bluetooth gps that turns on when you get close, turns off when you get far, is 150 dollars from www.buygpsnow.com 6800 will have windows mobile 6 instead of my windows mobile 5, higher rez camera, and rev a sprint btw, rev a sprint pcmcia cards are VERY VERY nice! Im sure ill have mine running on our drive! my phone is my gps every time i get into my car. i run 1/2 gig audio, 1gig video, and 1/2gig gps in my 2gig mem stick. can go higher now but my office will pay for the 6800 when it comes out, but last ive heard its delayed till august-oct. oh and having google maps and gps is pretty fun too. www.google.com/gmm for the standalone software of google maps for pda with internet. it hooks up to my gps at the same time my iguidance software does so if i want to browse around and use the traffic watch they both run fine and can swap back and forth. google map is pretty sweet for running a search, saying go there and calling etc.
You can order online or over the phone now. Mine should be here shortly. I haven't used any external GPS units but I have used tele-nav with the internal GPS and love it.
So the 6800 is telenav capable? If yes - I guess I'll wait until people confirm that broken 6700 get 6800 as a replacement and have a new 6800
wrxtypething and I had a talk about this yesterday, I would want one, but may wait till gen2 comes out.
lol thats how i went from the 6600 to the 6700, im on a 2 year rotation so soon my phone may have to get replaced, and then order a new one on top. external gps is very very nice. very nice modern chips in them that are very accurate and fast. bluetooth makes it seemless and easy. i still feel id use mine regardless of phone abilities. currently i-phone doesnt support blackberry and really doesnt support exchange. it does work with yahoo, hotmail, gmail etc. but it cant handle the added security. i say currently because the phone isnt done yet for rollout. it doesnt handle sprint OR t-mobile so i wouldnt get it regardless. sprint evdo is ftw, and, is really spread all over now. im amazed where i get it. Duluth for sure had it all around btw. signal was a bit week in the hotel but still had it fine. oh and have any of you tried ORB? if you have broadband at home, you can stream from your pc, tv, audio, and videos right to your phone or whatever. it works sweet. ill look at ordering the 6800, rather have it sooner than later. OMFG, im typing all this and just realized, my phone and gps are sitting in my office at home, argh! how on earth am i suposed to get to Sogonarg today!? IM LOST HELP ME! I may just have to print, onto paper, and well, use it like a map or something.
A lot of "discussion" about GPS... Just to be clear, GPS != Navigation. GPS is a satellite signal, Navigation systems utilize the GPS signal to locate position and then software handles the navigation... Anyway, back on topic. No, I will not get one. I really despise the IPod (or should I say the IPod marketing, since that is the only reason it is where it is today), but the IPhone really has quite a feature set. Remember, I am an Elec Eng, so the technology level is really what I am referring too, here. The touch screen is probably the biggest deal, but because of that, there are concerns for reliability. Wait until everyone starts sitting on them and the screen breaks... Or the expected software/firmware issues for the early adopters? This thing has potential (other than the cost), but it will have a tough time proving itself due to the attention it is getting (there will be panic over any small issue with it). One should also note that I am clearly not the target market for this, anyway...
A phone that could talk to MnDOT's VRS network for realtime centimeter-accurate correction would be cool. Totally overkill, but cool.
and what features would you like added that it doesn't have? and use what 3G network in MN? The FCC hasn't cleared any UMTS/HSDPA in MN besides Rochester as of now. Prada phone will also be Cingular Exclusive on launch, good luck using it for long in Duluth, we don't own the towers up there and you'd be kicked off within 3 months of usage.
Kind of hard since the REAL KE850, known as the Prada phone, is a GSM only phone and Verizon uses a CDMA Network. They may release a similar, dumbed down, and diluted model here for CDMA (just like they did with the Chocolate, whose real model number is KG800 in the overseas markets). The real GSM version will be carried by us, this was confirmed by my LG rep.
Here you go http://www.thestreet.com/smallbusinesstech/smallbusinesstech/10358647.html What I've heard is that it will be released as the ke850 with no Prada logos
"...Plots an iphone killer"  BS. Same crap as what they were saying about Zune that end u being total crap.
The phone is only overseas as of now with the Prada logo. Plus it's easier to say Prada then ke850. Also it's already out and isn't "total crap" it's actually really good just a little expensive.
I really don't see the attraction of putting all this crap into one device. A separate mp3 player does a way better job and holds alot more. Same thing with gps/nav. Maybe I'm just not a gadjet freak.
