I can never find this magazine, i dont think they sell them at like Barn or Borders? Is it good at all?
yeah, i have seen like one or two good issues, the last one i bought sucked hard core, i left it at AMC
If you want biased 'reporting', misquotes, bad info, and generally subpar quality, feel free to get it. However, it IS a magazine where the normal enthusiast (read: not sponsored) can get their car published. I've had three different people I know personally get their cars in the magazine. None of them were over the top.
I've been a subscriber since Issue 3, and ordered the first 2 as back issues so I have the full set. I enjoy it a lot, and always read it cover to cover. Yes, it is still full of spolling mistooks after 3yrs, but I just see that as part of the entertainment these days. It's nice in that it covers the whole Subaru spectrum, not just the 2002+ turbo Imprezas. Project Z2H was a bit of a flop, but you have to give them credit for trying. Don't judge the magazine by the Driving Sports podcasts. I think those are just an attempt by Douthit to build himself an automotive multimedia empire. But he's no Jeremy Clarkson, so he should probably stick to working behind the camera. A long way behind the camera. I believe B&N at the Mega Mall stocks it, and you might find it at Shinders, but I wouldn't swear to it. Stuart.
first ad in the nasioc site you get 6 issues (which is a year) and a free dvd http://forums.nasioc.com/ http://www.carzines.com/susu1uson.html
They are all closed now, the owner had some major drug problems and lost his law license (he was a lawyer). Had to pay some employees the last wages in cash to cover it.
That's a shame. I know the EP one had shut down, but I haven't been by any of the others recently, so I had no idea it was all of them. OK then, I rescind my assertion that Shinders might be a good place to look on the grounds that it no longer exists. Stuart.
lmao, I got it thats funny. Its kinda like jimmy johns " our delivery drivers are so fast you might think they are Russian"
shinders didnt carry it anyway. I heard shinders is being replaced by another magazine/gaming store. anywho I subscribed since issue 2. i missed the ship date for number 1 by a day or so. I think its a decent publication. it is fun to see what people (not in MN) are doing. They also have the coverage of the subaru WRC team in every issue which is kinda nice, since i never get to see any on TV. Their how tos are kinda lame (stuff i knew about anyway pretty much, or could easily figure out). Also the did not include the article about the last ice race. we need to get a article in there to show how superior MNSubaru is.
I know the SS photogs were out at Last Spring's Red Rocks Meet in Colorado. Did that ever actually make it into the mag?
Yup, and I like the mag. In fact, I just wrote a letter based on the last issue commending them on the in-depth technical articles. Relative to magazines in the VAG world, Subie Sport pretty much kicks ass. FWIW, no problems receiving issues, either.
I think it's an o.k. mag IMHO. For all those who are quick to diss it, think about how hard it is to get a mag that is so specific started. SuperStreet sux hard core yet they sell tons of magazines so they have lots of money and Primedia backing to do what ever they'd like for projects and photo shoots. If no one supports Subiesport, it'll never get any better than it is and will probably die out and then there will be nothing.
subysport is about the least content magazine i have ever seen. subscription ran out, i never bothered to renew it and I don't miss it. Just screw around on the internet, the info is better and you dont have to see 124513542356345135 cars from worldone or the bay area impreza club.
But what other magazine is going to highlight a modded Outback Wagon ? Certainly not any of the mainstream import mags. Perhaps Modded Outback Wagons Quarterly, but that one's such a niche publication, I don't think it's made it out of my head yet. SubieSport doesn't aim to solve world peace. It's a mag aimed squarely at the Subaru faithful. I give it six stars. Stuart.
Oh yeah thanks for reminging me. I should send a change of address card. Taras they sell it up the street from your house at the har mar b&n. The pictures are cool but the articles are usually pretty lame. I wish they had impreza magazine in English. Its a chore trying to read the whole thing in Japanese.
Isn't it also ungodly expensive ? Or do you have a cheap source for it ? There's an interesting UK based Subaru magazine. I'll mention it here to remind myself to look it up later. I almost subscribed last year, but the exchange rate put me off. Maybe I'll revisit it when my paintball magazine subscription lapses. Stuart.
This one right? It's 1500Y but I get free old copies from relatives when they remember to ship them. It takes me a good 3 hours to read it bc my reading sucks, so I'm looking for an English copy... great magazine. It's like an Impreza specific print version BMI episode
I had a subsciption... ALWAYS got my issue... and although it aint the greatest magazine it sure beats those other ones like Import Tuner etc that ll they talk about is some fat guys manboobs and have no real substance about the car details....
I think these are the two I was thinking about. Japanese Performance Scooby Magazine - Appears to have not stayed around for very long Stuart.
