I don't necessarily need to buy a used one but I am trying to save some money and not have a POS helmet. I know safety gear isn't something to skimp on. I just registered for proving grounds and realized I have no helmet. Not really a problem but my sponsor is getting mad at me for spending so much money on car things all the time. My heads on the smaller side of average. I'm also searching for recommendations on helmets if I don't find a used one fast enough. I only have 3 weeks so I need to order something pretty soon if I'm to have it in time. Alternatively where can I go and try on helmets and stuff is that a thing? Brick and mortar motorsports stores? I think I've seen them. Sorry I'm a noob this will be my first time doing autocross. Won't be the last.
When I was looking last year I remember hearing about a place called Race Suit Rental or something to that effect, located somewhere in the metro. I've yet to make it there myself as the pricing was somewhat of a deterrent for me as well.
I bought mt m2015 helmet prime from Amazon for the first scca event of the year a few years ago. I just went by the certifications
Found out I only need a DOT approved helmet for autocross and my brother has an old motorcycle helmet that will fit. I still need to get a real helmet for motorsports so I'm taking recommendations on quality brands and places to buy
Holy cheap. My understanding is that the super expensive stuff isn't necessarily safer but it will be better quality and perhaps more comfortable. How does that feel after wearing it for an hour.
Can't edit in the fs section: I have a total of about 150 hours wearing it and it still feels comfortable. I'll probably upgrade with the next helmet but it has been a great first
my sponsor is getting mad at me for spending so much money on car things ---- The wife? My heads on the smaller side of average --- You have more than one?
So theoretically if she's the one that willingly cut my hair into a mullet then she sponsors that as well? Haha.
