From what I can recall, it hasn't snowed in MN on October since 1989 or something like that. I hope it's only a cold front and not a permanent weather change.

hmm..remember the a** dumping we got in 91? over 37 inches in duluth on Halloween.

But it would have to snow really fast and hard for it to stick. this snow won't stick, the ground is too warm.

last year though I got the winter/summer wheel swapping down to 10 minutes in my garage...funny, but not fun. I'm waiting until the last minute this year!

That's good news then. If it won't stick, I'll just continue to roll in my 18s until late November.

The odds of anything significant sticking in the Twin Cities before December are always low. Change to your winter tires now, and you'll be driving them in 60+ degree weather sometime in the next month.

Of course, I'll be cahnging to my Hakkas in a week and a half, but that's because I'll be on my way to Houghton, MI, and it can snow and stick up there this early. Plus the hakkas are much better on gravel than the PS2s.

But swapping wheels isn't a big deal. I've been known to do it multiple times in one day when rallycrossing (well, my back hates it, but that's 'cause I'm old).

I will have them to you this week. Probably Friday night. I have a busy week, but you'll get them.

But like everyone else said, the ground is still way too warm for snow to stick. It would have to just dump snow inches an hour to get it to cover the ground enough to need snow tires.

BTW, I just noticed, my tires are M+S :( Still summer tires, but they have that special Mud and Snow rating. But screw all of you, I know I'm the elite summer tire snow master.

Ding Ding...anybody that thinks there will be snow remaining 2hrs after it quits is living in 1991. I highly doubt there will even be slush on the road.

Note that the 'Northerners' may have a different situation. ;)

I did not think to take pictures. It slowed and stopped now but it was an impressive downfall. Still have a little snow around the posts on the deck.

The snow today was weaksauce. I took a corner going 15 mph and no slippage. Well... it wasn't snowing when I did it and the road was dried already. :hsugh:

The cold by itself is enough to harden up my summer tires to the point where things can get a bit slippy.

Can't wait to be able to take cloverleafs in a 4-wheel drift on a regular basis again

I noticed the same problem today pulling out onto a road this evening. Tires felt like they were covered in grease.
