look at what happen when you're a cheapskate, yes, i know, i know, you could stop harrassing me now. give a 30yr old father of 3 a break plz.lol http://www.mnsportcompacts.net/foru...3-2002-Subaru-WRX-Aftermarket-Clutch-Disaster on the side note, this guy is the best mechanic i know, he has a 2.5 project car, ready to put in a twin turbo lex, drives a bugeye wagon. when i pulled in his shop and saw those two cars, i knew i was in the right hands.
The pilot bearing is not in far enough and appears to not be square with the flywheel. Can't say that I've ever heard of an SPT uppipe. SPT parts would not remove a catalytic converter.
maybe, the reciept stated wrong, i figured that too, since the 1st time when i took the tranny out, i didn't see and spt stamp anywhere but the exhuast. it must just be stock.
well you know, some people have to much pride, and forget where they came from. some people think they were born with all knowledge implanted in them. i admitted stupidity fault here, and this will only make me wiser.
Whoa dude, not trying to make you feel bad or anything here. The more you know the better off you will be in the end. Just calling it like I see it. If you think people here haven't made larger and more expensive mistakes before, you are grossly mistaken. If you had any idea of the parts I've scrapped and bought in mistake, you wouldn't feel half as bad. Its part of the process. Lastly, that up pipe is not stock. It is the wrong style of flex joint, and OEM is not stainless. It would also have heat shields on it. Just a heads up, that is all.
my bad, i was refering to curly's post about goodhart. as i remember that uppipe is stainless steal, will need to go and check out the brand on it again, i had a crack uppipe before and it ain't pretty, and very noisy.
Good for spool! Cheap clutches usually bite you in the ass. Even if they don't disintegrate I feel like the friction materials are low quality so they wear quickly and put hot spots on your flywheel. The fingers on pressure plates seem to wear worse and snap more frequently too. One way or the other any savings is lost in repairs later.
i also made the cheap clutch mistake..spend 350 bucks on it..shoulda just spent the extra 200 and got the act the 1st time around.
Yeah dude, don't worry about the bull**** that comes out of goodhart's mouth. That kid is nose deep in unwarranted self importance. People make mistakes and they learn from them. Looks like you're in the clear now.
thanks ya, actually, Devoted charged me only $490 for the racing clutch, $440 for the same one with a weaker pressure plate, so i took the better one, and $120 for the ACT flywheel @ 13.5 lbs vs 20 lbs stock. that's hella good deal, considering i bought the fake clutchmaster for about $500! he even changed both differential fluid, loaded my tranny with redline 5qt, redline mt90 1qrt, re aligned and installed proper bolts alot of other stuff for praticaly free!
Yang is a great guy and does a great job for his customers. I'm happy to hear he was able to take care of it for you.
