Just don't want the payment anymore and I'm looking at purchasing a house in the near future. So that's why.

Not sure what I'm going to get now. Something I can pay cash for that is reliable and can handle a Minnesota winter. That's all I care about!

That was a really nice car, but if you're looking to buy a house now is the time to buy. Good luck with the house hunting, plenty of bargains out there right now.

be a kid < welcome to adulthood

You should have just lived out of your car... Then you wouldn't need a house.

^^Yea, I noticed your car as well pretty much every morning near the 5/312 split.

Eli-- Sold the car as is. Wingless. He wanted it that way anyway.

Thanks for all the back guys. Appreciate it.

I've been thinking of the same thing ... selling my car just to save money and getting an older subie .. but.. I need my car, and i'm sure that the money I'd be saving would just go into FIXING any beater that I buy.

    You can never win ;)

Good luck on the house purchase :)

There's a certain brand of car that fits that so well...it's on the tip of my tougue...what is it?

I don't know what to suggest to you. Reliable means Honda Civic. Anything will do well if you put winter tires on. I still think Subaru is one of the better options though. Cost will simply be a matter of age and reliability will depend on mods. You can get into an NA for mileage.

Ha. I drove a couple used Subarus, but I don't like the 2.2L Imprezas. I do however like the 00-02 legacy and foresters, but I don't want to deal with having to change the head gaskets, which seem to be an epidemic in those cars! The going rate for a used 00-02 forester/leggy is between 6 and 7 grand for cars with 100,xxx-145xxx+ miles on them. Plus half of them are still on the stock head gaskets. If it wasn't done at a dealership and I don't know the person selling it, then no thank you. So F that!! :ugh:

Michael48-- I never drove it fast enough to notice. Just liked the look of it. No more projects for me for a while. Gotta buy a ring and a house..so that takes priority. My girl still owns an LGT, so maybe that will see some mods at some point.

Deathrin-- It was a lot in Opus

Let me know if your interested in a 96 Outback with fresh headgaskets, T-belt, spark plugs, newer tires, and only 97K on it.

If you do buy a 2.5 SOHC suby, let me know if you want the headgaskets done. I know a guy:biggrin:. That's always a way to knock the price down on the car your looking at. Just look for the dreaded coolant or oil on the cross member.
