Ok so I have been doing some research on Nasioc and I am think of taking my divorced downpipe and cutting the wastegate pipe and re welding it shut where it connects further down on the down pipe. It would have similiar effects of an EWG. People on Nasioc have done this before and say it helps throttle response and turbo spool. One member said that it sounded like a slight exhaust leak at idle. So I am trying to weigh my options of doing this. If its worth it or not. If I do it and it is leaking too much I can re-weld and attach the dumptube back to the downpipe. In japan they do it. they call it a rabbit hole. This is what my Vishnu Downpipe looks like. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on this.
could you set it up kind of like servo-contolled dump off the main pipe? Those seal well and are controlled from within the car, so when you want some go fast/scare the crap out of someone, you can open the dump. Am I getting the right idea or is this a completely different concept, as I havent heard of the rabbit hole before. Having to pull the DP and reweld it is just going to be a pain. I'd get some more advice and planning. You can also talk to someone like mike wray. I'd think he's heard of this before and might have some first hand experience with someone at a rally?
But you know that would be almost impossible. With that much work just buy a wastegate and make an up pipe.
You already have a very nice divorced wastegate setup with the Vishnu pipe. Cutting that off is not the answer. Get a full EWG setup from GS and call it a day.
If you did cut it off and cap the DP side you would need to re-tune your wastegate duty cycles since the open dump makes your wastegate more effective. The waste exhaust doesn't have to fight the pressure in the rest of the exhaust. I noticed it when I finally plumbed my wastegate back into my DP. I got sick of the open dump sound, which sounds like ass on a Subaru, IMO. Like you are farting through a straw...
LOL Ok thanks. Good info. Yeah I dont want to retune right now so I wont be cutting it off. Thanks guys.
it sounds like that on an after market type ewg because its not going through the turbo, these kind have lots of turbo goodness sounds
imo dont waste your time. two main benefits to an ewg: 1. relocate the wastege out of the turbo so there is no turbulence inside the turbo. 2. there is no pressure cause by the wastegated exhaust reentering the exhaust. what you explain solves neither of these. go regular bellmouth or go ewg. dont waste your time with anything else.
