My bro just picked me up a jack + 2 stands (among other cool toys) for my b-day... just wanted to see what you people who've used them alot think.
They're the Craftsman 2.25 (or 2.5? sorry can't remember now) Ton variety, full 1 year warranty and look pretty solid. I was in autozone tonight and looked at a 2-ton jack + stands package for probably half what he paid, but they didn't look as good. Do you get what you pay for with jacks? I really don't want to take any chances on cheap tools, but then I don't know much about them.
    Any tips or thoughts?

Oh, and what should I use to block the wheels? bricks?
    TIA

I have one of the $40 ones you see at Checkers, they are the 2-ton kind. So far, it has been a quality peice, hasn't broken or left a car on anyone (knock on wood) yet. I've had them about a year now.

I have that black Craftsman 2 and 1/4 tone jack. Good little jack for light duty stuff. Just getting up a corner for putting jack stands under. Only draw back is that tiny cup it has for a lift point. I prefer using my BIG 3 ton becuase it has a huge cup on it. Can put it right under the rear diff or front diff and it cradels the whole thing :)

Used many jackstands; they all seem the same to me. Some operate slightly different. I hate the ones with a pin that you gotta pull. Prefer using my 'clickers' that you just lift a handle and slide it up or down where youwant it. Again biggest draw back is the tiny heads on them where you actually set your car down onto. Wish they were bigger :(!

YOu should be pretty setup with that jack and some stands. Rage it !_!

Spend as much as you can on a quality jack and jackstands, just for a little piece of mind.

I would certainly regret saving that extra $$$ after my car fell on me :p

don't forget to check out places like harbor freight and tools and more. I picked up some 6 tom jack stands for $19 a pair, and a 3 1/2 ton jack for $59.
