On January 25th, the MNSubaru moderators had a meeting to discuss the plans for the upcoming year. We had a some great ideas and a lot of enthusiasm for what's coming up. This post is just a quick write-up of what we discussed. In attendance were, shibbs, esperunit, scuba steve, prezawagon, bikerboy, wrx1, steve-o, fuji, dynapar and chux. New moderators. The current moderators have been looking to bring on some new moderators for some time now and we have chosen three members to help moderate. We had chosen these members back in December, but this meeting was the first chance we were able to all get together and make it official. Please welcome the following members as new moderators. Fuji Dynapar Chux All have been active members in MNSubaru for a while now and have shown interest in helping MNSubaru grow. Review and update site rules. The new and current moderators are going to perform a review of the current site rules and make any necessary updates. The goals will be to make the rules more clear and consistent and easier to enforce and appropriate for the site. Forum changes. We discussed some possible changes to the site. Change off-topic to be visible only to members. Creation of a "dumpster" sub forum in off topic for when we need to clean-up other threads, most posts will be moved there rather than bedeleted. Create a new forum for General On-Topic Community Discussion, for serious discussion that is not subaru related. This would make off-topic a bit more open. We are also going to assign moderators to different forums. All the moderators will still be able to moderate anywhere in the site, but their main repsonsibility will be in just a couple forums. This will help balance the load among the moderator and also make things more consistent. Once we get the assignments worked out we'll list who's doing what. ID Cards for club We want to create membership cards for MNSubaru. They'll either be credit-card sizes or keychain sized cards. The price of the cards will just be what we need to cover costs. We'll probably make them good for a few years before they expire (we don't want them to be good "forever", but every year is too often to renew). Moving towards "real" club. We discussed a long-term goal of looking at becoming LLC or Non-profit and moving towards things like membership dues and general elections, etc. General Meeting at Identifix We are going to hold a general meeting at Identifix sometime this spring. We are still working out a date and an agenda. But this will be a great time to come meet other members in MNSubaru and hear what's planned for the upcoming year. People will have a chance to provide feedback and ask questions. We'll also have free food there. We will announce more details as they get worked out. For now we plan to have some time for people to socialize and eat. Then we'll have an agenda of topics that we'll cover and then open it up for discussion. Events Everyone wants more events, but we as moderators just don't have the resources to coordinate tons of events. So, we decided that the moderators/admins will focus on one event this summer, that being the Rally Fest that will happen before the Ojibwe Rally in August. We don't have any details yet, but we'd like to have enough room for members to show their cars as well as have some rally cars/drivers in attendance, and of course, food, etc. More details will follow as we get closer to August. For other events, we want to help where we can, but we don't have the resources yet to start paying for large parts of events. We think for now what would work best is to keep events pay-as-you-go, but in some cases MNSubaru may be able to help with pre-paying deposits, etc to reduce the risk on any one member, but still have the money paid back by member attending the event.
No. The only thing you would have to pay for is the cost of the card. The card would be used for verifying membership when getting a discount from vendors that offer mnsubaru discounts. It would protect the vendors from people abusing the discount. You won't have to buy a card to be on the site.. here's the original thread about the cards. http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18005&highlight=membership+card
This meeting was just for the moderators. We are planning a general club meeting coming up this spring (some details about this meeting in the first post). We usually have a few moderator-only meetings per year. This has been ongoing for a long time (before the current moderators). But we decided we want to open it up a bit and let people know what we are discussing.
not trying to get into a pissing match here but i just need clarification on something. to preface this quote i was asking who the mods/admins where... So with that said, i'm wondering why bikerboy was there if it was only an admin/mod meeting? He doesnt seem to be on any of the lists or names that have been pointed out to me. prezawagon, could you explain this to me please. indirect admins: steveo, wrx1 mods(from forum leaders section): chux, dynapar, esperunit, fuji, mlgez, prezawagon, scandiawrx, scube steve, shibbs Does this mean if we really wanted to come listen and speak up at these admin/mod meetings anyone could just come if they wanted? my point is i'd love to do that if possible and i'm sure others would.
Is it that big of a problem? If they are having a general meeting for all ye who want to attend in the spring? You can just go to that and share your concerns/comments/hates/loves
i'd like to know who ALL of the admin/mods are. isnt that a legitment question? i'd also like to know if others can join the mod meeting if so.
I think there are more indirect admins that steveo and wrx1, I don't know who they all are, but I know Todd still hangs around and bikerboy does too. I can say that they provide advice, but really are letting us modators make the decisions. No, the admin/mod meetings are just for the admins/mods. That's why we are planning a general club meeting for this spring that anyone can attend. But we need to have meetings once in a while among the mods and if they get too big we wouldn't be able to cover everything in a reasonable amount of time.
You got a little scared huh coochie-cat!! The ID Card is still a great idea and should be done. I want my ID the size of an extra large pizza box, hell yeah!
no worries at all. its just more of a question that benefits the whole group when answered. the group really needs to know who ALL the admins/mods are.
Well, the list of mods is public, there really is noone other than that moderating. The list of admins, I don't know how to find that list of accounts. WRX1 and Steve-o are doing the actual admin tasks, wrx1 approving new accounts and steve-o running the site/hosting stuff. I know Todd obviously still has admin access, but he's been very quiet lately. Bikerboy still has admin access, or at least mod access, but he doesn't do anything in there. Other than that, they'd have to speak up because I can't search for a list of admin usernames...
dont even worry, i will wera my sweatshirt so i dont forget, i will wear my MNSubaru shirt so i dont forget where i am either
All mods are listed in form leaders, period. No one else does any mod functions. We do occasionally ask questions on things from old mods.
could you get us a list of all admins? this is just good stuff to know so everything is out in the open as far as who's who. if you could do that joe, it would really be appreciated. once we get this we will have a full list of everyone that has some sort of priveleges on this site. no more wondering who is who for admins/mods.
I really dont care if people know but why is it so important to you Justin? Always seems like you are digging for something. There is nothing hidden here. You know that Russ and Steve maintain any admin stuff that has to happen (new accounts, updates, and upgrades). Any further than that I think a few old mods still have access to mod space. We keep them around for technical info and occasional advice.
you dont care if members know who the people running the site are? really? yes, i am digging for something, a complete list of every person that is an admin/mod here. we've never ever had a complete list and its about time we have one. no one seems to ever know. we are all talking about growing and the future and wht not but we dont for some reason even have a full list of who the leaders are lol. every time i post about this stuff a few of you jump down my asss. stop it. i just want a list of everyone that is an admin/mod here because we have never had that(no one ever really seems to know who they ALL are). other than that...glad to see you guys are meeting and hopefully those meetings will turn into something.
You can try and twist my words all you want justin. I dont care if they know as in anyone that wants to know can. I really dont care. As for jumping down you ass no one here is (no one wants to see your ass let alone the inside of it ). It is just kind of funny that you always seem to be looking for something to complain about. I dont know who all has access to mod space and I really dont care, why is it you feel like you need to know? I still dont see what you think your going to find. Bikerboy, Discope(sp), and maybe Vic(forget his screen name) might still have access. But again what does it even matter, they do no moderating here. We use them for advice once in a while on how to handle a situation if we want input from someone that has had to deal with all the crap we wade through each day.
Ok, let's move on please. Justin, you can pm WRX1 or Steve-o and ask for a list, I really can't give you a list of everyone who has admin access, I just don't have it. Sorry. As far as who's running the site, that I can tell you, the current mods are listed, and wrx1 and steve-o are doing the admin tasks like I listed before. There's noone behind the scenes running things and staying hidden. The intent behind this post was to open things up even more so people know what's going on. I'm really not trying to hide anything.
THIS. i am "anyone" and i want to know. how "can" i? its just seems kinda weird that some leaders(mods/admins) dont even know who all the mods/admins are....this is what i'm getting at. i mean we are trying to grow and look at the future but it seems none of our leaders even know who all the official leaders are. that is all, nothing more, nothing less. yes i am a big complainer and thats all
haha...which forums are you in charge of? i'm going to go post some "56k beware" threads in there for you scattered with f bombs.
You can solve all of your "off topic" problems by setting a certain amount of posts that new people have to attain before they are even able to see the stupid OT forum. You can set it at, say, 50 .. then when they hit 50 posts they can post in OT. It's not nearly as difficult as making a "dumpster" for the OT stuff and then maintaining that dumpster. Make them post elsewhere first before slathering the OT boards with stuff. Most other forums do this.
You can go to that meeting, but it is kindof a farce. Every year they say the same thing, and every year the same thing happens. We've been hearing this since 2006. Welcome to the club.
i am sorry but i am not coming outside to your car so you can prove you are on mnsubaru, it could be because i am lazy or it could be because thats retarded
I think this is a really good idea. 50 might be a little steep but I like it. Not sure if would help but something to think about. The "dumpster" I think was mainly for stuff that is removed from other threads not in OT that are OT.
another valid point to why decals are not enough. You just simply need to get to know your parts guys so they know you when you walk in. Right 3rik?? BTW: HI :wavey:
Actually, 50 is perfect, because after 50 posts you have a pretty good idea of how the site works, who is knowledgable, the rules, etc....
