selling a transmission out of an 01-02 jdm STi/RA bugeye. this did not come with the dccd option. it doesn't come with shifter assembly as well. the center diff is bad but I do have another for the transmission. this has no grinds at all.

    transmission specs:

    1st 3.636
    2nd 2.375
    3rd 1.761
    4th 1.346
    5th 1.062
    6th 0.842
    Final drive 3.90

    Front diff. A.P. Suretrac
    center diff. Viscous

if it matters to anyone, this transmission came off the Sti/RA with 17 inch wheels

looking for $1000 firm. can send pics apon request

How did you determine the center diff was bad? This is an appealing alternative to the 4.44 set in mine currently.

I think I have this same transmission in my bugeye (center diff is bad in mine too, with any luck I'll have it fixed before the LAX cruise). Is this an TY856WB1CA?

Nice! That's a stout transmission. Short gear ratios which can be good or bad depending on the application, relatively inexpensive, and no DCCD controller to worry about. If whoever buys this has any questions on swapping it into their Subie feel free to hit me up, I did mine just about a year ago.

FYI, I'm in the middle of replacing the center diff in my V7 STi trans right now and the only difficult part is doing it with the trans in the car. Replacing it with the trans out would be a pretty quick and easy task so don't let that deter you from picking this up if you're considering it.

Any ballpark of what parts cost to replace the center diff?

Depending on the cost of the center diff it depends. I did my 5 speed center dif recently and the parts were $400. Replaced all the sets of bearings (there were 4) at about $60-$70 each from the dealership and got a great deal on a used, but excellent condition diff for $150.00. Now that included the rear snout/snorkel drive unit (which was destroyed, so that saved money there).

NOTE: The unit that likely broke on mine was the RING around the diff itself. Poor design by Subaru to have a flimsy ring of metal around that. Some diffs have this flimsy ring/some don't (Subaru fixed the ones for the 5 speeds at some point). IF yours has the flimsy ring, do yourself a favor and weld it before install. When these fail it can be the ring or a bearing, so its worth the time to weld.

This one runs about $500 on average for the diff unit if you buy new, plus you can figure about $50-100 for your chosen gear fluid, but OP did state he has another diff to go in it. Only other parts you might need would just be the bearings Laserblue mentioned, a couple seals, and some Fujibond/Hondabond stuff. Nothing too expensive though, the diff unit is the only big-ticket item.
