    I have a 98 impreza obs wagon, its a 5spd, its a 2.2l
the engine i might buy is a 2.0l jdm wrx engine, complete harness, turbo, fuel pump ecu.....

So what "fabrication" will I need to do to make this fit? What about the throttle cables, the transmission, the driveshafts, the EVERYTHING...basically if i were to do this I would need to complete the swap in less than 2 weeks...is that even possible....woudl anybody consider heping for $$$

2 weeks is easy, unless today is your starting date. All you have to do is have all the parts together before you start, and when you start you have to put all your time into it. I did mine in 8 days, and that was with plenty of problems and trial and error. If I were to do the same thing again I could do it with 1 person helping me in 3 days.

No fabrication is necessary, unless you count the wiring harness. I'm available to help if you need it, and I'm not at an autocross.

you will need to mess with the front cross member to make the up pipe fit. unless the swap comes complete with the jdm crossmember. otherwise you are looking for a early turbo legacy crossmember (fuji has one for sale right now i think).

otherwise there should be no fabrication required.

2 weeks is very doable as long as you have everything and don't run into parts that are wrong. it is very easy to have your old motor out and the new one in in 1 day, then that leaves you with the wiring which is what will take the time.

i did my complete 02 wrx swap interior included in a little less than a month only working on it a couple days a week.

ya know from what i have heard, Chux has become the wiring expert. if you had the harness done before you start swapping it would be plug and play. bet if it was like that it could be done in a weekend like Mikes 2nd sti swap (GF -> GC)

Ok, another thing that I learned from mine.....don't spread yourself too thin, if your swap costs 4k out the door, then save up 6k, trust me, if your doing a swap, you can't nickel and dime it to death, if you have gone down this road, be willing to put more $ into, because its inevitable, your going to have to. Small thing will go wrong, and you have to be able to fork over the cash at that time or the 2 weeks turns into several months of saving up and not to mention the fact that you may have a very close to fully operational swap and are just saving up money for an over looked item or something along those lines.

Not true at all if you plan well. I planned everything out before I even started buying parts and spent $400 under what I thought it was going to cost. Planning ahead of time is everything when you are doing something like this.

^ it is a good idea to have some liquid assets when you start in just incase you forgot something (like oohhz noess i forgot my turbo gaskets) or need something to make it work. new coil packs or something.

both are true. if you plan it out, you shouldn't have any unexpected expenses to deal with. but it's virtually impossible to avoid them entirely. so, have some extra ready, and if you've planned it well....maybe you can get yourself some new struts.....or something.

I can help with the wiring, but it'll be a bit (probably a month) before I can dedicate much time to it.

but, if you need, I've got tons of scanned FSMs, and links to more on the intarwebz. if you know how to read a wiring diagram.....you can probably do it yourself!

Oh Noes! Another OBS is going to be fast!

That motor should bolt up to your tranny. OBS driveshaft would be fine. I THINK your cables are ok they might just be on the left side since its JDM. 2 wks is too long! Get it down in 1 week! Muahahaha,

I got my done in 3 wks but in turn it would have only took 1 week. I did about 80% of the swap myself. The other 20% was from wiring, and little fuji fitting his little hands into tight spots. good luck and hope to see you on the streets soon.

very doable in two weeks. Planning can help keep cost within sight, but there are always things that pop up. In my case, it was a lot :eek3:

Yeah I was the same way, pretty much everything that could go wrong did, but then again GT had sold me an engine that had a leaking head gasket and I ended up helping it along. That got real expensive on the rebuild end!! I'm just saying add a little "fat" into your budget, and if all goes well you will have some extra cash for things you didn't think you would have money for!

Costed me abouts $5000 for my EJ22T swap. That's a lot of new parts and harness labor....etc. Not cheap. I'm already spending like a good 3k-ish extra on my WRX swap currently. It's just PARTS that you need to make the thing run well.

When I did my turbo kit. I had to spend lotsa money that i didnt plan on spending to make things work out. most of this was spent at the hardware store in new fittings and stuff.

like most have said... if you have ALL the parts, and know what YOU ARE DOING, then it should be a straight forward job...

key is above.. having everything in a row before cracking open the door ;)

I thought legacypgt (Mike Wray??) did an sti swap from one car to the other in an earlier model over a weekend... it is doable...

surround yourself with Help that KNOWS WHAT they are doing not guys who have just watched or read up on how to do it, dont have too many people involved (to many cheifs not enough indians problem), and make sure you have a good selection of tools so if anything does go wrong you can get around it... ie torch for cutting or heating broken studs/bolts.. etc

^ it took mike i think 3 weeks to go from a totalled STi to a swapped wagon. it took one weekend to go from a swapped wagon to a swapped GC.
