In andover they just opened a new target. After a month I am sure they will be hiring, once they weed out all the slackers that work there now. My first job was at festival in anoder. A lot of my friends worked there so it was cool. Where do you live? What kind of subaru are you looking for on a $6.50 an hour job?

I'm on 151st Lane, by the High School, you?
Well that's why i'm not really interested in a 6.50 dollar job, but something more, maybe construction that kind of thing, i was thinking a used wrx at first but now looking at 98-01 rs or still a cheap 2002-03 wrx.

I live about 3 min away from the high school. There are someother people who live in that area as well. As for the job, you could work at Tanners. That would bring in more money then $6.50 an hour but I dont know of any construction jobs. Not much of anything in Andover where you can make the big bucks.

how old are you? you could always bartend at tanners or povs, probably get about $10/hour..
i work at sears, if you can sell well, we make around $20/hour, but i've been there for like 4 years, but new people get about $14 in commissioned departments.
don't think there are any openings any where good rightn ow, people usually don't like leaving when you make as much as they do.
BTW, i live a block from speedemon, so we're all close.

I'm shopping around for a new job too. Aiming a bit higher than $7.00 hour though. Shooting for $45k/year + good benifits. Want to move more toward the graphic design field. Currently working in IT field doing web design, web admin, and some graphic design and large scale printing here for the Army Reserve as a civilian contractor.

Any openings? :) Lemme know and I can shoot a resume, and I have a portfolio.

Thanks!

they are always hiring, just the openings for good commissioned spots may be full, like i said, those spots generally don't open to new people, if someone leaves one, another person fills it that already has work experience there, so there is a line for them, i can look though, we have posting in the break room, i'll see what's available.:D

i'm in appliances, deal mainly in water softeners and water heaters, but i'm moving to cooking in a little while, bigger cash there, but i'll see if there are some openings tomorrow.
there may be some commissioned openings in Land and Garden for the upcoming tractor season, real good cash that time of year, i've moved there the last 2 years for that season.

may be shouting at the wind here, but think career. any experience you have at your next job will influence the jobs you take over the rest of your working life - if you're leaning towards automotive, get some experience! even if it doesn't pay (unpaid apprenticeships etc), anything you learn now will count as experience later on.
speaking from experience, I should've skipped college altogether and just done as much apprenticing as possible in high school and a few years beyond. at that point you not only know some valuable stuff, but some people too.
if you want cash next week, I'd say serving (tipped food service, preferably non-corporate), or construction. anything else won't pay in the short term, but you'll thank yourself a few years from now.
hehe, how's that for a lecture

You could try a medical clinic or a hospital. You can usually get a pretty good wage. I started through a temp agency making around 9 bucks.

yeah i looked, it looks like Fulltime Appliances are the only commisioned openings right now, and they only hire like older ladies for that postion usually, people buy stoves from old ladies, not young guys, so that was about it for opening on commmision. It looked like there was an opening for Loss prevention (rent a cops), that doesn't pay to badly (think about $10/hour), have to be 18 for that though.

Cub Foods is hiring. Always hiring. Roughly $8.00 an hour. Been working there for 8 months and got promoted to CSM after 2 months.

I work 2 jobs. I just started at Culligan Bottled Water in Brooklyn Park/Center (whatever, forget which it is) and that's 12 bucks an hour (but I think you have to be 18 or older since it's forklift work). Also work at Cub Foods (Coon Rapids South location off of Hwy 10 and Northdale next to the Lifetime Fitness). I've been there 2 years now (I work overnights part-time...have to be 18 to work overnights, but if you'll be 18 soon you can get a job there on nights and make 8.55 an hour starting).

It's 6.70 if you work part-time days. Raises are based on total hours, but if you work there a year, you can make 7.45 if you're working 20 hours a week or 7.70 if you manage to work 30 hours a week. I'll be getting a raise in about 20 weeks up to 9.45. It takes a long time when you only work 25 to 30 hours a week on average. I'm now dropping to 15-20 a week since I have the full-time job.

I know this thread is a couple weeks old, but I thought I'd help you out.

I live in Blaine by the way...University and 117th Ave. area.

Would also like to mention that it's union so benefits are great at Cub Foods (if you're in school I suppose your parents cover you, but anyway, when you're older and out of school it will be good).

If you ever manage to get full-time, you automatically start at 16 bucks an hour (grocery department anyway). Best two places to work are pharmacy and Meat department, but most anything else is pretty good. At full-time you can make up to 22 dollars an hour right now (that's after about 5 years) and at part-time right now top-rated pay is 12.40 an hour (not too bad).

However, the bad thing is that full-time requires usually 5 plus years of service. I have a friend who's been there 6 years and isn't full time yet and my boss worked for Cub 8 years before getting full-time. It's so hard because 85% of the employee's are part-time and the rest are full-time.

Just thought I'd add a little more info.

Once you're 18 and out of school, you can get a few more types of jobs that will pay more. You might want to check out Menards and some of those types of stores as well. Also when you turn 18, check into Cummins Power and Generation. My fiancee works there and it took her nearly a year to become full-time regular (you start as a temp through an agency). Anyway, it's 9+ dollars an hour as a temp. She's been full-time regular for about 2 months on third shift and makes 13.10 in her department. In 1 month she's getting a raise of over 50 cents. Her father works there and has for 35 years. He makes **** good money and most of the jobs aren't bad. They have 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift.

Anyway, just look around and you'll find something you can do.
