rawr! alright...you jerks may have broken me... i think i want to do the next one. Fuji, the offer still on the table?
yeah I think I may have to too!! I see some Forester love there... when is the next one and $$$$$ please...
Kelly needs to post some of his. He has a nice sequence of me over-rotating a corner and making Josh nervous.
ok.. well I want to do a grass/dirt event.. not a gravel one... I already run down enough gravel roads...
Yes and no. Yes, you should buy/have your own. They're not that expensive. No, they do have a few loaner helmets you can use if you don't have one.
Hey guys, I'm at work right now but I'll be heading home in a few. I don't have PS on my new computer yet so the one's I post will be un-edited but you'll get an idea of how it was
Here are a couple... pre-edited. I'm still uploading them, if you want a full size pic, you can get it at my fotki account, http://public.fotki.com/snbrd4evr/car-related-photos/cannonfalls0801/ and click, "get original uploaded photo" at the bottom of the page. Like I said, there are a bunch of them that are a lot better that I haven't fully uploaded as of yet (should be done in around 3-4 hours). Enjoy
Is this guy hitch hiking or is he working hard to get back to the car? LOL Always working to entertain us. thnx MW
I think he's stretching after all the running he had to do picking cones. Everyone ganged up on him and only knocked down cones in the section he was working...
As usual Kelly's pics are FTW. When do get to see Allison's pics? Are you going to get smacked again for posting "that" pic?:hsugh:
Great pics Kelly! Are the girls going to post their's for the "pic contest"? Pic with the new banner...ftw. Also, Derrick ftw btw. Thanks Wagner Racing Products for sharing your tent with the rest of us MnSubaruians.
Thanks guys!!! I'm going to talk to the girls tonight about their pics. I'll see if I can convince them to upload them to my fotki account so you guys can all get them easily
It was a great experience hanging out with everyone, very laid back. We have some work to do on the car before the next event, I would like to have more travel on the suspension. We can bring the tent to all the events, may even bring the trailer, it has Air Conditioning
What do you have for suspension. I have some vid footage of your car entering the slalom. There's a bump there, and several cars seemed to hope quite a bit over it. I assume this is from bottoming and I assume because of still stock struts...or maybe aftermarket set quite soft. You might just consider a setup with a little stiffer dampening to control the movement.
I have Tokico D specs and 348lb springs front and 250lb springs on the rear. I had the car droped about 1 inch due to being lazy. I will try raising the car to stock height. I tried setting the damping up a bit but went too far and the car started hoping in the corners (Icky feeling). The real problem for me is not the car, I sucked, too wimpy with the wheel. I guess this just means I need more practice, now where can I go to beat the hell out of my car before the next event?
if you find a place, please let me know. we are severely lacking in practice spots I'm on dspecs too - I leave them set to about the middle of the damping range for the dirt. your springs are a bit stiffer though, a softer set-up would be help with the hopping (I run stock sti springs)
I just got the stuff off the camcorder, 1.5 gigs right now, and the vid doesn't even look that great, lol. I may try a different setting. Really, it's only 35 min or realtime riping. Yay for non-digital Cannon 8mm tape. I also have the few in-car vids of myself and brother with the Fugifilm Finepix camera. I have to piece together something halfway decent and recompress everything down to a more friendly size and toss it up on Youtube. That may take a little while. The re-encoding itself may be the better part of a day with my mild mannered 3 year old laptop. Hopefully I'll have some footage up by tomorrow night. Yeah, I consider myself lucky for growing up a little bit in the country and had back roads to play on. I grew up beating the snot out of my cars. The Forester hasn't had a light time either. Hmm, I'm not quite as high of rates as you are but not really far off either with the Prodrive STI springs. I have the AGX instead of the D-Spec, and I know valving is a bit different between the two. The ride characteristics will vary a good bit simply from that alone. I see damping as a set it for the spring and forget it sort of thing. Setting it higher or lower really doesn't seem to help anything. If you set it low, the car will bounce around in excess. It sort of helps soften the daily ride but also makes the ride ungangly and bounding. If you set it too high, the dynamic behavior will get sluggish and the car unresponsive. You end up turning left, load the chassis to the right. Then you turn right, and the chassis sits hanging to the right still. It's a literal joke in slaloms. I can't seem to be happy with my damping anywhere other than "right," regardless if it's just daily driving, auto-x, or rally-x. It just stays at the same spot. I liked my car on the track. It never felt unsettled and never seemed to bounce over that bump before the slalom like a few of the other cars. I kind of think having the D-Specs set low made the car a pain to drive. It just made the ride bouncy and probably let it bounce off the bump stops. Even if it didn't bounce off the stops, the car would still just go boing simply from the springs being underdampened. I'd probably get pissed at the car too. I've toyed with setting my dampers low just for daily use, and normal road driving just pisses me off, lol. The car may not have as much harshness over bumps, but it just lunges about like an idiot and just feels stupid.
all these hints from you guys... ha haa.. I mau build it so you all will come... ha ah.. seriously I ahve to run this by the in-laws and see if a few of us can make a 'Little' track int eh area where the farmer doesnt plow etc...
