So I recently added an STi wing to my car, free trunk swap so why not. ;)

Anyways, I've noticed that grocery cart handle that's now lodged to the back of car flexes a bit while at highway speeds, is that normal? Only does under certain conditions....bumpy road, etc...

    yes.
you can get supports that make it not do that though.
doesn't really make a diffrence either way.

thanks...I'm still getting used to it...It doesn't bother me, but I had no clue if that was normal.

coming from no wing at all ..The first few days I'd catch myself turning my head real quick to see who was right behind me.....thought some was tailgating me.... damn...

Floppy plastic wings are not so good. At least (please forgive me) the Evo has a non-floppy carbon fiber wing.

Welcome to getting pulled over more. I wish I could take my wing off and not have to pay for it.

Pulled over club? HA! i didn't know i had to join....and so quickly!!!!

Today on the way home on 494west I was targeted by the state trooper and PULLED OVER!!!!!!!!!!! I was doing 55 in a 60 zone and in 5th gear...

I got a ticket for my exhaust...hmmm...I just the other day i was asking about silencers...!

The cop made me rev my motor 5 times. He was looking for it to back fire....my car doesn't back fire! he MADE ME REDLINE MY CAR!! After that i was a bit mad and told him I wouldn't do it anymore and i would hold him liable for any damages to my engine. he told me if i didn't do it again he would have his partner do it for me. After he pulled an attitude with me I had to get back and ask him if he knew that subarus have a boxer rumble. He stated his car was twice the engine and it didn't sound like that. I had to explain he drives a chevy, which doesn't have the same type of headers..that really made him mad, but at that point i didn't care. Anyway, he insisted that my exhaust is illegal....arghhh..

i told him i will go to court and get this dismissed. And while doing all this a harley drove by with straight pipes, which is much louder than my car!! I asked if he was going to get him.

yes, i got an attitude with him, but only after he made me rev my motor to redline a few times. man, and I was in my suit and tie looking all professional....bastards!!!!!!

^Damn cops think they can do whatever just to make you pay. Pisses me off too. Dumb stuff like that, wasting gas reving your car, excess wear and tear. its dumb.

Hmmm..... to think I can't wait to get rid of mine on Sat and I have the carbon fiber middle piece too. After that I just need to weld in an additional straight through muffler to drop the sound off and hopefully I won't have the uneeded attention like the officer who decided not to go left and instead go right and follow me 3 miles on my way home today.

God that pisses me off just reading that bulls***, sounds like was just being a prick. My exhaust is loud too and I don't know if yours is a similar setup, but having no cats IS illegal.

And just my opinion, but I love the black w/o the wing...it looks smoother.

thx...yeah, I know my car is not up to snuff. I have no cats....but he profiled me. Doing 55 in a 60 zone and in 5th gear no car is not even close to being too loud. this cop went from being parked on the left side of 494 all the way to the far right lane to pull me over. there is NO way he could've heard my car....there were 4 cars in between us.

I didn't care as much about the ticket as I did with his attitude. I would have No issues paying the fine, but he was a jerk about it so now I will push this in court....I have nothing to lose.

another note...I have roamed eden prairie for a long time with this set-up and never had any issues. In fact, recently at Caribou in ep I had two cops congratulate me on such a "nice set-up" and that was after I pulled up next to their cars so they heard me coming for sure!!!

I have NO problems paying because I'm in the wrong...I have a problem having to take crap because of a badge.

I think I'm gonna have to get an Ipod or something type of recording device so when the Cops do pull me over I can record their AR'z. So I can also tell them they are being recorded! LOL

that sucks! i dont even think he could have made his partner rev your car. ARG stuff liek this really gets me. especially since he wouldnt listen to you, about the different header design. i would have poped the hood and shown him.

i think he was just secretly jealous of your cars rumble, thats why he had you rev it so many times. Then, when he didnt get enough, he threatened that his partner would have to do it. After he got off on your exhaust note, he decided to write you a ticket hoping that you would take it to court just so he would be able to see/hear your car again.......i could be completely wrong here =)

    99dB is VERY loud....

can they make you rev the car? that sounds awefully fishy. I'd go to court.

Now having a loud exhaust is one thing, but having a high wing will also get you a ticket too?? :eek4:

That can't be right, I gotten pull over before but the cop never say anything about it. That was back in the days when I have my old 98RS with V5 spoiler for 4 yrs!!

I would like to find out if there are any shops with decibel meters around the cities so I can actually have it tested. Anyone of anything like that?

in MN, it doesnt matter what decible it is...its all the opinion of the officer. If he thinks its too loud, then its too loud

it's just drawing attention not illegal

the ordinance is somethin like you're exhaust cant be louder than your engine... but how do you explain motorcycles and the new cars that make a ton of noise (nissan 3.5L's, corvette, even the srt-4) that is louder than the engine, that is rediculous that they made you rev your car to redline... if i was asked that i would just laugh and tell them to arrest me for my noisy exhaust... in other states 94-96db @ 3krpm is the limit, not redline. i've been pulled over plenty of times in my town for exhaust but i usually just give them an attitude cuz they're only pullin me over to check for drugs or alcohol

just remember if you are prepared to face the consequences you have the right to say no to pretty much anything... but you should have said no and let his partner rev the piss outa your car and take them to court for violating your civil rights

I dont think the law is louder than your engine as most cars when you rev will be.. it is if it is louder than factory equipped....

I have never once been harrassed by cops with my exhaust.... its louder than stock but unless you are on it its not loud...

remember LOUD DOESNT MEAN FAST?!!? just sound nice on a Suby

    Huh?!? Why his partner?!

You should've said: "Do it yourself! I want to sue YOU, not your partner".

As much as I hate lawyers in general, they're the only things keeping some cops honest.

Tommorrow I'm calling to schedule a meeting with a hearing officer. I'm going to simply ask for charges dropped to a "fix-it ticket" and buy a silencer until I get something a bit quieter. Only if I get push back will I bring up the particulars of the incident. Wish me luck! :)

i guess i've been lucky then. I'm driving around with an open mid-pipe. no axle back. i've passed cops, had cops follow me but never did i get pulled over. I'd take it to court and let the cop have what he deserve for doing that.
