Would it be stupid to have a subforum for cars and separate forum for parts etc? So there would be the Cars FS, Parts FS and WTB forums...

    Thoughts?

Yeah, this is a pretty good idea. Somewhat like Nasioc - where you're selling CARS - not part-outs in the "cars for sale" thread and part-outs go in the regular fs threads?

The biggest thing to remember is that threads by default do not stay on your active screen past 10 days. So by lumping the cars into a forum, if the forum does not move that threads will not show up. Then this forum and my pm box gets lit up with people asking why I deleted their threads.

I guess you could plop a sticky at the top of the Cars FS forum telling the would-be whiners to chage the date range.

Anyway, just food for thought. I guess they eat too.

last comment--most people selling cars bump their threads fairly often, so the 10 day thing wouldn't apply as much.

I guess I haven't paid much attention, but do we really have enough cars fs on a regular basis to justify a subforum for it?

Even if we didn't, the service to the members alone would be worth the change imho.

I know that if I were selling a car on here, I would want the thread to be as highly visible as possible. Not having to find it and bump it in a sea of other FS threads would be a great benefit. As I've mentioned before, we would need to stick to a specific format, and delete any OT posts in these FS threads. Moderator approval of new threads might not be a bad idea either. I think we can all agree, given the drama around a few shops over the last few years, that the last thing we want to see is a chop shop dumping their cars on this site.

If this does happen, how about a FS section for other accessories/electrical/other-cars to keep it separate

I kind of like what Mitsustyle did with their FS forums (basically like what the OP was suggesting). They might not need to be as elaborate as Mitsu's forums. But maybe 3 subforums plainly labeled as:

    Vehicles wanted or for sale

Vehicles parts wanted or for sale

Non-vehicle related wanted or for sale

I don't know if it would be a cumbersome thing or not. It seems to work well on other forums. I guess it would come down to whether or not there are enough people to moderate them efficiently.

Just throwing some ideas out there. It works the way it is. But if this helps it work better, and it doesn't involve an absorbanant (sp?) amount of work, it could definitely be a benefit to unclogging the for sale forum. I like the idea.

I think this is a good idea. Usually someone is looking to buy parts or a car, not both.

    here, just send them this:
