    hey all,

I know there isn’t a lot of support for a Subaru that is nearing 20 years old, but I just bought a gem of a forester sport. Outside of the obvious intake and exhaust mods, are there any other improvements available? I know it’s essentially on an Impreza platform, but how far can I assume interchangeable parts?

This is my first Subaru in 6 years, so words cannot express how excited I am to get more involved in the community of obsessive enthusiasts.

Stay away from power mods because you really won’t get much if any gains from them. If you wanted more power you would have gone turbo! Welcome to the NA club!

For NA, look into suspension mods(raise or lower based on preference and how you will use it.)

Brakes and tires are a great place to stick money! Nothing personalizes your fozzy quicker than a set of aftermarket rims.

Don't bother with those. You'll gain nothing but noise and unpleasant noise at that.

As Josh said, you can improve the suspension and handling, though! Start with sway bars, end links, springs.

But, in MN, be prepared to deal with rusted bolts on a car of that age!

Thank you both for the advice. I’ve been searching for a wrx for years, but I couldn’t pass this car up.

I already have a lifted truck, so I’d prefer to keep this stock and my daily beater. I have a set of gold rims with nearly brand new tires to install this weekend. It’s going to be a hoopty, but I’m extremely excited to be back in a Subaru.

It's a Subaru, not an old V8. Haha.

Stock, in my opinion, usually = longevity. For the most part. Plus foresters are just cool. Congrats on getting back into the car manufacturer who's set the example for all others to follow.

Here it is in all its glory. Overall, in good shape with only 117k on it. Two owner car, first owner had it fourteen years so I have some high hopes for the longevity. I have a set of gold drag wheels that may go on, we’ll see

Looks like it's in pretty awesome condition. I say make Mr T proud and throw the golds on there!

Good eye sir! There is a clear bra on the front clip. Overall, in good shape and the interior is immaculate. Might have an intake lined up and pending the status of the suspension, might swap an Impreza set of struts to bring it down a little.

That does look immaculate! WRX springs and struts would make quite a difference with the ride height.

Was also gonna suggest the WRX swap but didn't know if you were going for the lows. Winter snow travel will be a little more difficult but the sweet look will trump that.

I have yet to lower a vehicle (and I’ve had more than my fair share of vehicles) so a big part of me wants to with this one. Lifted truck and lowered car is the dream, right?

I’m coming from a beater VW with 201k and worn out suspension so it looks lowered lol and I’ll have the truck for heavy snowfall travel

Take a look at the gas filler tube. Generally they rot out even on something that looks this nice.
