I'm an avid Audi enthusiast and have been with them exclusively for the last 13 years. I realized I wanted to get into something more raw and more of a drivers car which set my sights on the STi. Once I saw it in person, I was scheming ways to get my hands on one. As many of you know, not the easiest task. I'm from Fargo, but have been in Kansas City for the last several weeks taking a course. Got word a Subaru dealer out here had a black STi arriving soon, so I sold the a4 and put a deposit down. After a two week wait the car showed up this past thursday, about a week before schedule Excited to join the local Subaru community, as MNAudi has been a great resource for me in the past. The STi Untitled by imolas4rida, on Flickr My b7 a4 Untitled by imolas4rida, on Flickr My b5 s4 I have a bunch more photos on my Flickr account https://www.flickr.com/photos/128303849@N03/ First impressions: The styling is not for everyone, but I think it looks mean. Especially with the wide body fenders and side skirts. Once I remove the wing, lower it and put some nice wheels on it should be much improved. Seats are alcantara and pretty comfortable. Nice bolstering, but could use some lumbar support. Overall interior is not bad, but it's definitely not a luxury car. Stereo is terrible, but easily upgraded. Chassis is very stiff, tears on the on-ramps. Can't wait to get it on some good backroads. Steering is still hydraulic and heavily weighted. Much more communicative than any Audi I've had in the past. Brake pedal feel is pretty terrible. Not much movement of the pedal, might end up replacing the pads at some point. Only 100 miles on it so far, so haven't opened it up much. Gearing is very short so it feels quick even without going WOT past 4k, which is where the powerband lies. After driving Audi for the last 13 years, it's a big change of pace. Was getting a bit bored with the b7 and ready to move on. I can say, out of the box, it's more fun to drive than any of my previous cars. I thought my b7 with coilovers handled well. No, not even in the same league as the STi. Overall impressions are the car feels like a go-kart. Raw, light and nimble. It drives nothing like the previous generation STi's. In particular steering, handling and throttle response. For what I paid for it, it's a steal. The S3's that are at dealers are $10-15k more and couldn't justify it. Going to throw on some winter tires in the coming weeks and really excited to see what it can do in the snow with the adjustable center diff and LSD.
Congrats on the 2015 sti. Glad your enjoying it. I also have a 2015 and yes the stereo is crap. I hearing just changing out the head unit helps a good bunch though.
Welcome to MNsubaru and congrats on your purchase, Ravi. We have weekly meets on tuesday nights. Hope to see you around!
Welcome to the short bus! Good timing on your purchase. All us crazy folk be buying all the snowblowers in town, you buy an STI. Well played sir!
Welcome to MnSubaru! There is an adapter module to make the steering wheel controls work with an aftermarket headunit but i don't remember the name of it. Remember, AWD does not mean invincible! Lol, don't go putting that new ride into a curb or worse! But from the looks of the photos, it seems that you are fairly advanced in your driving techniques. Keep it safe and have fun! Great looking car!!
josh, he's been on MNAudi. They're nazis about winter and winter tires and all that jazz, lol. Welcome Ravi, MNaudi won't kick you off for having the scoob. I'm still around there.
Yes you can, and I actually have one for sale used listed here: http://mnsubaru.com/threads/afterma...wheel-integration-module-metra-harness.47364/ PAC SWI-PS
Don't worry, I'm one of the biggest snow tire advocates out there! Going to pick up a set of Nokian Hakka R2's
