since i'm starting this thread already...

would i need a tune for a perrin up/downpipe..or can i go without it for awhile..??

Yes, you need a tune or you'll overboost terribly.

False. It will run just fine. To optimize what you have, you will want to get it tuned, but it will run just fine. There is no reason for it to over boost or knock.

As for rear diff fluid, Amsoil makes a pump that goes on the top of the quart bottle so you can just pump the fluid in.

I didn't feel that much of a difference in the tranny with RL NS either. Scotty's cocktail made a huge difference though.

Yes, I've known a couple people to run stock ecu mapping forever and a day on the up/down with no issues. just get a cheap cel fix for the up & down until you get the AP.

rear diff is very simple, just go underneath and use a 1/2 ratchet and just used a little strength and it'll come out

take off the top first, then the bottom, and you can, if you feel like, jack up the front so it can drain even more out, then put it back down

put the bottom bolt in and fill through the top (use a pump, makes it easier) until it begins dripping out the top hole, plug it and you're done.

I just changed my diff fluid the other day and just stuck the bottle into the hold and squeezed it. I also decided that a little extra to the recomended .6 of a quart was a good idea so I put a jack under the rear diff and raised the rear of the car up to get a little extra fluid in there, it can't hurt and my diff will thank me later. I used redline 75w-90 fully synthetic btw. Also take your fill plug out before you remove the drain plug, if you remove the drain and can't get the fill plug out you'll hate life.

I filled the diff by using a cleaned-out Castrol HypoyC bottle (long and narrow with a spount on the end), putting the Redline into that and using that bottle to fill the diff. Failing that, a long enough hose to reach out behind the bumper would only cost a few $.

Yeah, most bottles will work fine htat way, but not the bottles the Redline comes in, which is why I used a Castrol bottle.

don't mean to jack the thread, but had a question about tranny and diff fluids. Can anyone compare the Redline and Motul products? I want to order some fluid asap, but not sure which route to go.

    Thanks,

    Mike

lol...sorry but your logic kills me... More is always better right? If it helped so much don't you think Subaru (or the diff manufacturer) would have just moved the fill hole up?!

Do you put extra engine/trans oil in?
