When installing the X5 HID kit in the wagon, which resistor do I use to get rid of the "high beam" light, and how do I install it? In other words, which slots do i put it in? There are three to choose from, power, low, and high...do I put it in High and ground? Also, would a bad headlight relay lead to early ballast failure? When they were installed previously, when i would turn, sometimes they would turn off, or one would go out... :-/ Thanks, JFK *the DRLs are disabled*
(feedback from microphone)...is this thing on?...(*tap *tap *tap) ...or is everyone is the "thank you mnsubaru" thread? haha!
I used a 3.5ohm resistor, purchased from Radio Shack. You solder the resistor between the high beam power wire, and the low beam power wire.
You also need to wire the HID's to your low beam wires. If you have a cheap volt meter, you should be able to find it really easy.
thanks, I think I still have a couple of those resistors left. my bulbs burned out in only a couple months, so i'm trying to figure out what may have made that happen before I replace the bulbs. I noticed that my battery was weak, so I replaced it with a new one. I had it hooked up correctly, so that isn't the issue. but could a bad relay burn out the bulbs or ballasts? like I said, sometimes they would turn off when I used my blinker. once I had made the corner, and the blinker stopped, the lights would shut off...any ideas? the headlight relays are like 54 bucks!
Nothing kills HID bulbs faster than short on/off cycles, so if they were going off and on, it's not much of a shock that they died fast. So yes, a bad relay could do that.
