    Noob question :D

Can I safely put a K&N filter in my car, I'm 100% stock right now.

^Agree...You will hear better air flow for your car, but you won't feel any gain

Thanks, not concerned about 1hp, I'd just rather buy a filter and be done with it, I run them in everything else I own.

So K&N then, or is there another brand I should buy, for any other reason, like say you guys know of another cleanable filter that's cheaper, or whatever, don't have to be a K&N, probably splitting hairs now.

Stock, or a WIX filter. Both flow just fine and trap MUCH more dirt than a K&N.

IMHO, better, cleaner filtration > .0004 cfm higher flow.

BTW I ended up buying a wix filter, man what a difference it makes!, I'm actually ashamed to admit the air filter in there was probablyt the original, with some 40K miles on it. It's stupid how dirty the filter was.

Either way, a clean air filter is essential. One benefit of the K&N is that it never needs replacing, you only clean it. This saves quite a bit of money over time but if you don't want to bother with the cleaning process then the plain ones are just as sufficient.

K&N is fine, may not fit the best on some cars. Just use caution when you go to clean the unit. These units don't like to be doped with excessive lube/solution. It can lead to CELs and such due to the mass airflow sensor probes getting coated. (Non Chlor. brake cleaner does the trick)

Try the Purolator replacement - it has a solid frame and tight fit. Gotta keep them tight.
