:werd:, Why would you want to put a subi engine in something that weighs 3000 pounds without a motor?

    Mister Garrison, I presume?

But yeah, a VR4 has a 3.0L V6 and weighs over 4000lbs. Putting in a 2.0L would be the equivalent of the rudder on the Titanic. Not...quite...enough...

If one wants a Mitsu, buy a Mitsu. Those 4DG3 engines worked well in Eclipses, and they still work well in Evos!

not necessarily. the 6G72 is a decent engine. Its the same block that was used in a lot of 3.0 cars from the DSM partnership. had different heads though and of course turbocharging in the VR4/ Turbo R/t trim models.

My 6 cylinder makes 1250 lb/ft of torque.
I think a good upgrade would be a Lingenfelter twin turbo 427 and the rear mounted transaxle out of a Corvette. That should be enough to help cope with the 3k curb weight sans motor.

don't know about that one, had a cast crank and internals and had a lot of issues with pinging and knocking that i know of. wasn't any stronger than the engine they put in the numbers of everyday cars such as:

    Mitsubishi 3000GT/Dodge Stealth
    1989–1991 Plymouth Acclaim/Dodge Spirit
    1990–1994 Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager
    1990–1993 Dodge Ram 50
    Dodge Dynasty
    Chrysler LeBaron
    Chrysler TC
    Chrysler New Yorker
    Dodge Daytona
    Dodge Shadow ES
    1992-1994 Plymouth Duster
    2000-2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse
    1999-2003 Mitsubishi Galant
    1994-1998 Hyundai Sonata
    2001-2005 Dodge Stratus/Chrysler Sebring Coupe

The 3000GT is a pig of a car. It looks great, but weighs way too much to have any fun with. Lightening it? I think a tubular aluminum frame would be about the only way you are going to lighten that car. Same thing with the SVX, they are made bulky...very bulky. It really is a pretty poor platform for performance. A 3800lb car with anything but a V8 in it is going to be a lumbering land-yacht.

    ^ "lumbering land-yach" lol.

as mike said if you have $$ anythign is possible. it wouldbe neat to put a boxer into a 3kgt, but its impractical. arnt those designed with a transever tranny? (sticks to the side not front back) that would be the biggiest isuues since you would need to hollow out a tranny tunnel or wedge a boxer in there sideway.

ooh and jason i bet if it had a H6-T it wouldnt e such a land yatch. but then again it would be a waste of H6-T which cold go into a tiny impreza l or GL hatch or someting that wiegh <2800lbs

neat idea though there are many people tha try to do wierd stuff liek this. i remeber reading about a guy custom mounting a 350 v8 into a impreza l, and another guy putting ej20 into a honda civic. (civic was rebuilt to the poitn where it was essentially just a honda body lol)

The VR4 engine isn't the greatest thing ever made(it's no 4G63), but it has displacement, which helps get that big car moving and lets you spool some decent sized turbos. I wouldn't try to put anything smaller than the 6G72 in it.

The convertible versions of the 3000GT VR4 is 4000lbs, the normal ones are in the 3700lb range, which is still very very heavy.

If cars like this get you excited, I have a Ford Escape you can drive around in if you wish. I'll bring it to Firestone sometime...man, i didn't think people liked dinky pseudo-SUVs. Who'd a thunk it?

true story, a freind of mine's brother in law has a 3000gt vr4...it has an MBC, dowpipes/full exhaust,(borla) intake, bov, some sort of reflash,or chip and various other things. gets absolutly RAPED by the same friend's 06 wrx with a cat-back..AND THAT IS IT!! from roll, from dig, from behind, you name it, slaughters it by nearly 5-8 lengths when all is said and done. its a super low mileage car too.

no, its completly flat, to cyls on one side, two on the other, flat, crank in the middle and also, a wrx would eat a 3000 on a track as well.
