Anyone have any experience with this set-up? I'm looking at a simple upgrade and this can be had for $500.

I have a stage 2 02 wrx. It's my daily driver, and I rarely take it to the track (maybe once a year at Road America). I have a cobb/kartbboy sway bar set-up. Just looking for better than stock handling that I can have fun with at the track when I go. I have RE960AS tires for now, and looking into getting a set of summer tires I haven't decided on yet.

i have the springs and i actually really like them. i got them about 2 years ago for around 120. havnt had any problems with sagging or anything and they seemed to improve handling nicely. also the ride hight is about perfect.

    Are you on stock struts?

I will vouch for the gr2s as a very reasonably priced strut that will get the job done for you. The warranty is what braught me to them, but they're good for an occasional track day.

AGX's are the next level up from the GR-2's... little more pricey, but you get adjustable struts

It's always hard to wait. I should have gotten a tracking number yesterday. Anyone else like the smell of new parts?

GR-2 struts are basically stock struts.

GR-2s are typically just a touch firmer than stock struts (and a lot firmer than old, worn out stock struts). How firm that is depends on the application it was intended for. I don't know if there's any difference between GR-2 struts for a 2.5RS a WRX or an STi. Probably not, but it's possible.

AGXs are the next step up and are adjustable, but on the rebound setting only. They are firmer than the GR-2 on compression, and can be adjusted from about the same on rebound to significantly firmer.

the GR-2s are the non adjustable version basically its like having AGXs but the settings are stuck in the middle. 2F and 4R on gcs since the AGXs are 4 way in the front and 8 way in the rear. GDs are 4 way F&R so those would be 2&2.

I have AGXs and love them. they work great. for ~$100 a strut with a good warranty well worth it for DD or weekend warrior.

Are you still running these with the wrong top hats that dont fit right?

nah, pretty sure it's both compression and rebound, because @ 1 & 1 they are still pretty squishy.. and 4&8 they make the car feel like it's gonna shake apart.

You're right. I should know this because I run AGXs on my RallyCross car. I was thinking of the typical Konis, which are rebound adjustable only.

That said, the compression change of the AGXs from stop to stop is pretty small, while the rebound is typically larger.

This is a shock dyno of a KYB AGX. THe actual chart is for a Civic, but this is typical of the results people see with the AGXs. [IMG]

Well, they all look to be in order. I'm waiting on new bolts from 'tonka subaru. I'll try and post some before and after ride height pics when I put them on.

the GR2's have a slightly larger shaft, and use a lager top nut than the stocks found on a GC8.

Oh, and by the way replacements bolts are $55.14 ( 2 camber, 6 straight). Also, they wanted $13 a piece for nuts. That's $104 for a bag of 8. Hopefully mine will hold out on the new bolts.

I forgot to mention the mnsubaru discount. I won't forget it when I pick them up Monday.

^ should have told them before you ordered.

The bolts/buts you have should work just fine, unless you mangle them in removal. The GR2s do use a larger top nut however they should come with that included so it isnt an issue.

good luck w/ the install. (19mm box end wrench is worth its weight in gold)

Yeah, like I said I had forgotten. The struts did come with top nuts. Thanks for the luck! Hopefully it warms up a little bit. It gets kinda fumey with the kerosene heater on in a closed garage.
