Just a quick question on wheels. I found out that my old winter wheel set for my G35 has the same bolt pattern as my STi. I haven't checked the clearance on the Brembo's, but these wheels did fit over my G brembo's (front is slightly different...but I'll check that). The only difference I can see between these wheels and the ones that tirerack recommends is the width. 17X7.5 is recommended and these are 17X8. Is there any reason I couldn't use these wheels (does anyone else have 17X8 on their car)?

    Thanks,

    Mike

So much for physically checking the wheels myself...I'm dumb! I'll never trust tirerack again.

You need to check for the correct offset.

    Are you a 2004 or 2005 STi?

The wheels changed for 2005. They widened the rear fenders to allow for the wider wheel they used and it went to 5 X 114 bolt pattern.

And 17x7.5, 17x8 should both work on your car...it's the offset you need to worry about. Also, aren't the G35 Coupe's wheels staggered?

2005 STi, so the bolt pattern is ok. The stock wheels are staggered, but the winter set that I bought was not. Looks like offset is my only unknown now...thanks.

Checked and the G35 was offset +32...STi shows +45.

yeah, I'm just going to go back to not asking any questions...until I can think of one that doesn't offend even myself.

    1. 17x8 wheels will fit on any WRX/STi as long as the offset is correct.

    2. What is the offset of the wheels? this is almost more important than the height/witdth.

    3. what size are the tires? on a subaru they have to MATCH. no staggered tire sizes here unless you like buying new diffrentials. Period.

No, I'd be replacing the tires...they're way too big for the subaru.

    See above for offset.

Ok... what size are the wheel offset?
i'm bettin their the same diameter and width, but often on a RWD car, the rear wheels have a diffrent offset than the front ones. This could cause serious problems.

    Stock STi is +53.

+32 would be waaay too off. They might technically fit, but you could end up rubbing the fender, and it won't be good for your bearings.

Exactly. The stress on your bearings is probably not worth it. I'm sure you can post them for sale on a G35 site and get some cash and buy new rims.

Yeah, I was about to throw the wheels and tires on ebay,a g35 forum and a 350z forum but thought it might be nice to have an extra set of wheels for the STi at no charge. No such luck, oh well. Thanks for the responses.
