i have a leak and i want to know hard is it to fix and how much you guys think it'll cost me? plus i have electrical problems! when i turn on my cruise control my steering column smokes and my dash lights and radio dims and turns off sometimes. Any help or suggestions?
what kind of leak? the electrical seems kinda serious. Steering wheel column smokes means---> maybe wire insulation is burning but not sure since you said your lights dim. I don't know much about electrical but you should check your fuses and relays to make sure their still alive. Maybe a 'resistor' is dead somewhere in the circuits causing too much power for the wires to handle?...i would get it check out before it gets worst
oil leak from the front of the engine. i dont exactly know the subaru engines too well. and its getting burning on my exhaust. i barely had this car for a month and a half and it's smoking already!
when i first got my car the oil was leaking and it was burning on my catalytic converter. I changed from regular motor oil to full synthetic and thats when it started to happen it was also less then a month and a half of owning it. You might want to change your oil gaskets since they are leakin between the seals. After replacing my oil gaskets and giving the engine bay a power wash there was no more burning oil and the engine looked alot cleaner.
time to get the oil pump re-sealed, rear access cover re-sealed, and a new rear main seal...not cheap! but not detrimental
Gaskets are like...$5 - $10, then doing the job is free, but time consuming. If you have someone else do it, it'll be like...you know...$100+ My Dad and I replaced the oil pump seal/front crank seal on our '93 Legacy. It's not hard at all.....pretty much straight forward. I have to find out where mine is leaking from. BUT I'm going to build my EJ22T so I need to look for EJ25 cam seals and EJ22T engine gasket kit.
