Lesson is, don't leave a bottle of oil (especially synthetic) with the safety seal off (cap was on tight) roll around in you're cabin. Just noticed my passenger side carpet is soaked with redline 5-30, my all weather mats caught some of it, but it looks like most of it went into the carpet. I feel so stoopid Looks like I'll have to shop around for a steam cleaner rental.
^ I had this happen too. I thought that having the cap on good was enough. nope I know have 1qt of oil in teh carpet. It was messy right away but now I am over it. When I put open oil containers in the cabin now I always tie them up in a plastic bag.
Was it dino oil or synthetic? When I drove my old ford, I always had a partial bottle of dino 5-30, and never had it leak. Either the synthetic molecules are that much smaller, or the bottle design isn't up to snuff...
throw a pile of diatomaceous earth (or kitty litter-unused type) on the spill to soak up the oil so it cleans up better.
The LGT wagon has a little pocket in the passenger side of the cargo area just perfect to hold a bottle of oil. Thats engineering
I left my spare oil in the bottle and then stuck in inside a gallon freezer bag. Only once did it leak the the big old ziplock kept everything clean
I Just put my oil on a shelf half a qt of oil aint gonna be a lifesaver if you ask me!!! if its that low... tow it...
