Was out of country for a month and both cars were in the garage. just got back and the FOZ started right up but the leggy wont start Got machine gun sounds but the electric all works, stereo, lights etc. I did notice the gas gauge after it does its little dance comes back down to empty and though I dont recall where it was when i left it (i think it was close to full) Next steps? Should i attempt to jump it even though with electrics all working i doubt that is the issue.
jump it, battery has enough to run low power things but not enough to crank the engine. The machine gun sound is the starter solenoid energizing, then the starter pulling the voltage down low enough the solenoid can't hold the circuit closed, so it releases, then the battery voltage increases cause there's no draw now, then the solenoid energizes again and repeats.
if you mulitmeter the battery, i bet you would get around 10-11 volts, which would indicate the battery is low for sure.
My brother has a MINI and he left it parked for a while and went to start it and nothing happened. He got it hauled down to the dealer they said that it has diesel in it. The gas was sitting for so long it just went bad i guess but it was sitting more then a month so thats probably not the issue but you never know.
The mini's engine probably cranked over, just wouldn't fire, the leggy doesn't even sound like it's cranking, thus a starter, starter solenoid, or battery problem.
