I am looking at an 05 Legacy GT i had it checked out and they found metal in the transmission fluid, subaru says this is normal, is that true? I want to make sure I am making a good move if I buy it...Any info would be appreciated. thanks.

Was it just a shiney metallic sludge on the magnet, or were there chunks large enough to feel between your fingers? If it's just sludge I think that's normal, bigger chunks would concern me.

Talked to the subaru mechanic who looked over his car and said there was nothing unusual about the amount of flakes in the fluid. sounds like it may be good to go.

yeah, when I changed oil on mine for the first time, I was very surprised at the amount of "flakes" (more like shiny sludge) that came out of mine. Every change since then has been perfectly clean tho.
