LF an amp to power 1000rms/2000peak. I bought ShortThrow's P3s, hooked em up and they were crazy quiet. Opened them up and found out he had it wired for 8 ohms  I wired it back to 2 and now it's crazy loud, but I don't have an amp I've just been testing them on a friend's. So if anyone has an amp they want to get rid of let me know.
why would he have them hooked up for 8 ohm? he didnt want them to be loud? i htink those are 4 ohm subs so be careful about wiring them 2ohm or whatever
i have a Hifonics brutus 1000. i am not going to sell it but i wil recomend it. for 200+shipin gon ebay i dont know if you can find a better deal. it isnt a fan cooled amp, butthe aluminum case dispiates heat fast. mine hasnever come close to overheating. plus you get the crazy blue leds in it (enough to get you pulled over) just an option.
Just Blaze, when you hook up a dual 4 ohm sub you can run it at 2 ohm load on the amp, but the sub will still be dual 4 ohm. http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rfte...4+ohms+x+2&image.x=21&image.y=12&image=Submit Dynapar, thanks for the input. I ended up just getting a Kenwood 940 from Best Buy. I started installing one of the subs in a new box I bought because the old one was a piece. It's 12:51am right now and the box has been annoying. First off, the port tubes and the port covers were the exact same size. Had to cut a slit in the port tubes and sit the cover in the inside of the tube and duct tape it back together. This, unfortunately was a bad idea because when we put the sub in; we found out that the sub was so deep it hit the port tubes. Ok, so we took the port covers and tubes out to fit the sub and we just said screw 'em since they didn't fit. Now, all the holes are drilled we just need to screw the sub in. However, I am wayyy too tired to continue this crap, had to get up early today. Now I'm just resting.... ahhhh.....
hehehe the onders of sub boxes. back when i had my original box it was a ported box fro 2 subs. 1.5cf on the backs of the subs and 1.5cf on the fornts of the subs, along w/ 2 ports fro each sub. i made the thign so it would never come apart. i used 3/4" MDF with gorilla glue on all the seams, somoe silicone caulk for good measure, adn enough screws to biuld a house. then i put in my 4" pvc ports. low and behold the ports ratteld!!! it drove me nuts. i ended up taking a circylar saw to the box to make 2 seal boxes. well 1/2 way throught he medf the blade was toast. so i sawzalled the rest.. this is why my current sub box looks the way it does hehe.
