many of you may have noticed me installing my Fog/Driving lights up in Orr a few weeks ago. well, I finally got around to taking some pics of the final product. they're Hella Optilux 2020 Combination Fog and Driving lights. utilizing 2 H3 bulbs in each housing, with 2 different reflector styles for different beam patterns. they come with 55w bulbs installed, and I replaced the driving bulbs with 100watters. they also come with a SPDT switch to control both circuits (means only one at a time), but I replaced it with a pair of SPST switches to fix that problem. I had a set just like them installed on my '85 (which is where this bumper came from), so the holes where already there......wish I hadn't broke one of the lenses on the old set after transferring them to the '88. you can see the different reflectors my little switch panel. completely custom. I'm working on a new one with a third DPST switch that will allow them to be controlled by the factory light system (fog on low beam, driving on high) as well as indicator LEDs wired in after the relays (so if the fuse blows in the wire before the relays, the indicators won't come on either). I'm also going to hide the wires...... and took some pics on the road tonight. while delivering. pulled over and took these with the camera on the roof of the car. Low beams (Silverstar 9004 bulbs....pretty nice, much better than stock): (this one was so dark, that the camera couldn't focus on anything  ) High Beams: Just Fog lights (no headlights): Just Driving lights. Notice the long and narrow versus the short, wide pattern. and everything on (high beams, fogs AND driving lights) btw....I love these lights!!
meh....who sleeps anyway. I figured I needed a good wiring diagram of what I'm planning on doing anyway, so I took a picture of the diagram of the included harness, and edited it with MSPaint: before: after: right now I'm pretty much running that, without the DPST switch and the LEDs. I might have to modify how the relays are switched though....since IIRC the stock headlight system switches a ground.
nice. your stock headlights do virtually nothing in that darkness :eek4: foglights are too much fun, i need to make mine work again. (btw i broke the other one out somehow...)
You should upgrade your headlights to osram +50 bulbs. The bulbs you have now a weak! Fog/driving lights look great! Nice addition
Can i join the overly-intense fog light club too? haha, yours are 'hella' bright tho, I don't remember which you had on, but they where way more intense than the standard headlights.
