No big loss, that place has been a haven for viruses and crap for years now. Limewire was the first (and last) actual virus I got, and it wiped out every picture I had saved. Pretty much anything using the Gnutela or OpenNAP type networks is a festering cesspool of viruses. Usenet and torrents are your source for evil pirated music and movies.
Couldn't agree more, I just can't believe it took this long! Lime Wire has been going strong for ten years now! +1 on Torrents
Holy S*** that scared the hell out of me. I have my daughter sleeping next to me on the couch and the volume on the lap top was cranked...LOL. The blood is flowin now!!
I got even bigger lolz from the self-righteous "woe-is-me" statements from the RIAA. I'm waiting for the day it is deemed that pursuing legal action against music downloading is no longer cost effective and they begin putting their efforts toward something else to actually make money.
I'll argue that limewire was never good, but it's more like the end of an era. One of the oldest file sharing formats shut down. You aren't safe with usenet and torrents either, and I'm not talking about viruses.
I never said those other two were safer. Just that Limewire was a whole lot LESS safe. And yes, Limewire and BearShare and all those other clones came around after Napster got shut down. They took that OpenNAP system and ran with it. Limewire came along long after Napster's hayday was over. And the monkeys that were still using it were using it to **** viruses and garbage all over the network.
