Wondering if anyone here has dropped cable and knows what options are out there for local channels in st Paul. I'm only really watching sports as it is mostly on fsn and was wondering if I can get the local sports teams over the air or streaming on the Internet's.
I don't have cable and the lack of sports is the one thing I hate. FSN is not available over the air...your only options are really any game that is televised national on NBC (Twins & Wild) but you get the Vikes every Sunday. You will also pick up whatever college Football & Basketball is on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC on Saturdays. Also, I haven't been able to find any reliable sources to stream local sports from. I was going to sign up for NHL Center Ice, but after reading the fine print found out that I can watch any "out of market game" meaning I wouldn't see any Wild games. How dumb is that?!
I've also been looking into this lately, losing FSN and Wild broadcasts is also the hang up i'm having. I have found that there are ways of getting those blacked out NHL games through NHL Gamecenter Live. Do a search and you'll see. I have no idea how it exactly works though.
I've seen those, but I don't want to have to configure all my crap to trick the system into thinking my IP is not in the MN Wild market.
I'd drop my cable in a heartbeat if I could stream sports efficiently. Can't believe how long sports is taking to make the transition
As far as I understand it, all of the teams signed their life away to the cable stations such as FSN.
If you'd looking for HD and 100% legal there isn't much. Most pro organizations are partnered up longterm. Standard definition and borderline shady? There are 2 good options imho.
Hypothetically speaking, if I were okay okay with the shady portion of it, what would those options be?
I've explored some of them and a lot of the shadyness gets you very questionable quality not sure I'd even consider it SD.. Lol
Its very possible. All in all I guess its not bad. For standard channels plus HD one box and 105mb internet I pay $150ish a month.
What services do you all subscribe too? Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime? Are there any that I'm missing? I have Netflix, the gf has Amazon Prime, and now I'm contemplating Hulu Plus but I'm not really seeing an advantage over regular Hulu. Anyone have any input on this?
Hulu is good for watching some TV shows, like Comedy Central and NBC. Horrible movie selection and there's commercials. Netflix is far superior imo. And I'd like to know where to find said shady sources as well, hypothetically.
Got rid of my rabbit ears today, since they were forced to be in unsightly areas to get good reception, and mounted an antenna in the garage. I hooked up to the cable line into the house so each TV can be plugged into cable outlets just like a cable box would be. I did need to use an amplified 4 way splitter to keep the signal strong enough.
