Well some dumba$$ tried to break into my car last night. The lock on the drivers door is pushed in, but it doesn't look like they got into the car. I called a locksmith, and he told me that it would cost $135 for him to look at it today, and pretty much told me he couldn't do anything because he won't have parts etc., etc. I am just wondering if anyone knows how I could either make this safer until I can bring the car in next week, or knows how I might be able to fix it. I put the key in it (after the police came and did their business) and it seems like it works and everything, just that the cylinder of the lock is pushed into the door making it more vulnerable.

Anybody know how to fix something like this? Wanna help me? I live in Minneapolis between the U and Augsburg, and it wouldn't be a surprise if someone came back for it...

Like the locksmith said, you will probably need parts. Swing it by a Subaru dealership on Monday. That's probably your best bet.

That sucks man. Sorry to hear.

I don't what you could really do. Obviously try to obscure the fact that it's damaged. Park it somewhere different maybe.

Could try taking the door card off and see if you can push the cylinder back out some from the inside? Not really sure if you can access it well from there, though.

Borrow someone's mean dog and chain it to the car overnight? j/k.

Anybody know if the cylinder can be accessed from the inside of the door? I haven't had this car for even a month yet, so I am not very comfortable with its inner workings. Is something like one of those steering wheel bars going to deter someone? Any other ideas?

Sorry, it is an 02 2.5RS. I think I might just put it in a ramp overnight, as close as possible to a security camera. Somehow the cylinder of the lock is pushed in, and the piece around the actual handle and lock is loose... I will try some pictures later if that is needed. I haven't taken tried to take off the door card, but it doesn't look to me like it would be super easy.

Wow... Hate to admit it was just the subaru door handle coming loose and the lock falling into the door... I guess it was good that nobody messed with my car, and I could fix it myself (in the snow today) without having to pay someone way too much money...
