I had to come to work down University this morning because I heard 280 was closed do to flooding. So I came in down Central to University and headed East. Passed thru the U area and came up along a nice White Honda Accord 2dr with nice wheels and blacked out windows. Could not see driver at all. Well I was in the right lane with lots of water and it was raining still. Light turns green, Honda punches it and you can guess what happens from there. Man you have to love All Wheel Drive. I'm guessing the person never saw an SVX before and had no idea it was all wheel drive. Oh well, I'm really really glad it has been raining. The fields up around me are pretty bad and the sweet corn looks terrible.

I did the exact same thing on Hwy 55 against a CLK Kompressor in June after a thunderstorm passed over us. After I took off I looked in my rear view mirror and saw that his wheels were spinning so much his car was canted funny on the road. And my vehical was brand new stock!

    What's the new state law?

    Hmmm,

Lets think about this. First off all it wasn't much of a contest in standing water on the road and I never went over 30, didnt have too. Was probably 5 cars ahead by the time the tires stopped spinning on the Honda.

Second, who do you think they would pull over first, OLD guy in black stock car or bright white Honda with window tint you cant see driver thru and look at me rims and tires with big tailpipe?

I was talking to an officer that does security at my work and he was telling me that the reckless driving law has been changed to include "street racing" he said racing was considered speeding/careless driving before but reckless is much more serious.:iconpolice:

Funny how u don't see alot of US cars getting caught racing, but imports always get busted...

Also those pickups with straight pipes are just as loud or even louder than aftermarket exhaust, but u do not see them getting pulled over for disturbing the peace...

Is that part of that "aggresive driving law" to prevent quick lane changes on the freeway? Anyone else heard of that?

   I soooo agree with that statement!

I remember a story not too long ago about a guy getting handed a ticket for a loud exhaust as a Harley rips by with straight pipes....Cop couldn't even hear his own words, but didn't flinch when handing me (I mean 'a guy') the ticket!

Well of course you ricer, um... I mean good citizen. Import people take a lot of crap compared to normal drivers. I can't count the times people stare at me or have yelled slow down when I'm running about 25 mph in a 30 zone. I had someone point at me while a minivan was tailgating me cause I wasn't going fast enough.

heh... if you aren't spinning your wheels or changing lanes, I think you could easily fight the "unreasonable acceleration" stuff in court.

Heard this today on the radio,

If a cop has someone pulled over and you dont move out of the lane close to him when you pass you can get a 120.00 ticket. So folks on the radio were ticketed in Burnsville and they were talking about it this morning on the radio.

Just something else to watch out for guys....

    Well on Sunday,

I was leaving the girlfriends place in Stillwater and got pulled over on the Harley for exhaust. Bike is a 96 and I have owned it 5 yrs. This spring I but different baffles in to bring the noise down and I still get pulled over. I pass the cop shop everyday a couple times and no one says a thing. I asked him to put a meter on it so I can see and he says there is no meter and pulls out this little computer typed copy of the law that was folded up in his pocket. Says the pipes cant rap or backfire. They dont.... As we are talking along side of CTY RD 15 a old truck goes flying by with what sounds like straight pipes. I asked why he doesnt chase him down??? He says cause the tax payers are complaining about the bikes and they pay his income. I said well so do I. He just turned around and said have a nice ride. He didnt give me a ticket.

a friend of mine got pulled over for exhaust, the cop had him rev his engine, said yep its too loud, and cited him. I always wondered how its ok to write a ticket w\o a decible reading. also they cant give you a ticet for being able to speed, so if your driving and not riping it can they give you a ticket for being able to makke loud noises?

I know first hand that Minnesota doesn't require law enforcement to pull out a decibel meter. The 95db rating means nothing here. It's the police officers judgement. If he thinks it's too loud he can give you a ticket.
