Not sure how it magically appeared? I think it happened at work. This is the only place I don't set my alarm, because of the 18-wheeler traffic by our loading docks. There's no scratches in the paint that I can see, but the car is dirty. Something soft had to hit it. This pisses me off! You think this can be fixed affordably? I know it's on a body line crease.
That is going to be tough to get right since it is on an edge, since the metal has been stretched, and most likely will not return to its original shape. Some hammering will probably be needed, as is some body filler.
reach your hand behind the inner fender wall. push it with your hand and smooth it out. I just did the exact same thing with the exact car.
Try "Pop-A-Dent"(i think thats how its call) from pepboys auto. Its only $19.99. I try that on my WRx door and my van's fender. Works awesome for just 20 bucks. My van's dent was about the same size dent you got there.
That sucks!!! I think that nm+ has the right idea and someone/thing leaned against it. It must have been a slow pressure to make the dent without cracking/scratching the paint like that. or perhaps something with a large surface area ie a car bumper moving slowly and pushing into the fender. pm sent.
I'm skeptical, but I'd like to be proven wrong in this case. I just worry because the dent protrudes into two body lines.
I've seen them fix something like this in the rear quarter of a forester, that also went through two different body lines. They would need to look at it first.
No camera's unfortunatly. I'm going to try to get it to Morries on fri for an estimate, I'll have to find out when they close. Maybe another est. elsewhere too. My car is getting older (02) so it really dosen't have to be perfect and I'd like to stay under $100 for the repair if possible. Thanks for all the input guys.
Update- Stopped at Morrie's and Tim had Joe S.(the traveling dent guy) look at it. He would only be able to get it 90% back to normal for $180. I wonder if I should just have him do it or atleast get another quote elsewhere.
He could just be saying that to cover himself. who knows. check out some of the stuff these guys can do. Pretty amazing.
take a football or volleyball, deflate it most of the way, put it behind the fender, use something to brace it then inflate the ball. should pop the dent right out
My dad always used a rubber toliet plunger to get dents out - if you do that though, be sure the rubber is in good condition otherwise you'll get a black ring on your car like I did once...
Dent Kraft in Plymouth, MN has the best PDR guys in the area. Don has flawlessly fixed numerous dents that others have said would be impossible. http://www.dentkraftpdr.com/ They've done my S2000, my Evo, and my fiancee's Impreza and WRX. I'm been really happy with all the work I've had done there (dents, hail damage, rock chip touch-up painting, and clear bras).
