The lady and me just had our first son on december 15th and i'm lookin to ditch the evo, it's payments and insurance and pick something up for the wifey to drive. most likely will be an 08-09 impreza hatchback premium/limtied/special edition. couple quick questions. what will swap from sti to my car(non-power related) and don't worry i'm not trying to make a copy cat. i would just like to have hid's and ditch the ugly stock rear lights. maybe throw on some stock sti rims w/summer tires so i can throw some blizzaks on the stockers for winter. I have an 09' Do not buy an 08' unless you want the slowest (and worst) WRX ever made. I guess you didn't say WRX, so are you getting a non-turbo impreza? If so I know nothing, so forget what I wrote above this and welcome to the site. I would say go for the WRX if you are thinking about swapping the non-turbo car anyways. Oh to answer your other question, you can swap in the HID's. We did it in my 09' WRX and they are great.
nope i plan on getting a n/a car for lower insurance rates. plus this next car will be for my girl and our new son. I'm getting out of sports car for a few years till my credit score rises and my insurance rates lower after i'm 30 and then I'll most likely pick up a summer only sports car. i'm aslo considering an 09 legacy limited/special addtion(not sure the diff between the two) would any of the STI's HID's swap into that? from just looking at pictures i don't think they will. I would just have to send them to lightworks for an s2000 or TL mod
Welcome to the site. I have a 09 wrx and dont like the tail lights much either. Best way to fix as far as I know is a harmon motive kit. Heres what they look like. My stock WRX This is one showing the Full Red tails Here is one with the Red tails with the reverse light cut out. You can also get a dark smoked color.. Im going with the red tho with the rev cutout. I think the I was quoted about $175 to get it done. Bolt pattern on the sti is different. Not sure what will fit on a 2.5i off hand.
wow seeing that secong pic makes me want a impreza even more, i can't decide! impreza or legazy. impreza or legacy! i'm back and forth constantly. even though it will be for my girl and i won't be doing power adders i'll still be improving the looks for her. i'm so torn
Just about everything can be swapped from the STI to a non-STI model, it just depends on how much you're willing to spend, haha. The headlights and seats will swap right over. The wheels however, will not, unless you want to swap spindles to get the correct bolt pattern. WRXs 02-09 have 5x100 bolt pattern, where STI's 05-09 have 5x114.3. ~Dan
reason you dont want to go for a forester xt? still has some power and its a suv sort of so lower insurance
Pretty much anything from the 08/09 Wrx/STi will swap over into the 2.5i. The taillights are all the same, so the only thing you can do is paint them or tint them. As far as HIDs go, you dont need to get STi headlights, as the projectors in the WRX/2.5i have decent cut off as they are. I threw a set of DDM's into my car and they work great. thanks for the link. i'm bummed about the lug patterns not being the same. it's always cheaper to buy a stock/used sti rim than any new rim combo
actually that might work out better seeing i'll be able to find a beat up set and have them powdercoated. thankks for the info
