so im looking at a 07 white wrx.

    questions for ya..
brand new 07 wrx lease to own or a 02 or so wrx straight payments with around 5500 or so down?(same down on the lease)

also with the wrx i was looking at getting these options
    -spoiler
    -spt intake
    -spt heat shield
    -spt exhaust
    -sti short shifter
    -sti ti shift knob
    -spt rear diff plate

anything you suggest i take off or add? I hear you guys are kind of intake nazi's so i wanted to hear your input..

also I see a lot of guys use different tuning.. will this void the warranty?(ill take it out of course if it does when it goes in assuming its a plug-n-play tuning device) but will it register on the ecu or howeer they check on it(never owned a car were i had to care about voiding a warranty) but i know these 07 wrx's are quite a machine with simple parts and tuning

anyway let me know your thoughts.. im looking at getting one in a week or so. i drove the 07 apline white sti w/ gold rims.. pure sex.. but id be barely cuttin it with payments and planning on moving out in spring.. the wrx was quick enough for now and with mods i know will be likeable.. id like to see it hit consistent 13's.. anyway the wrx was over 100 cheaper a month so ill go with thatand thebuy back after lease was 8 or so grand less.. so wrx it is unless i get the 2.5 cause i wanna be practical and save money and make the best choice..

anyway want some input.. any is great! thanks!

btw ive owned a consistent talon tsi awd, 3 240sx's, a galant vr4, mazda mx-6 gt in the past all with plenty of mods(tsi being the fastest running 13's and mid level boost) so im not a noob with cars and turbos and ****.

also i pay for EVERYTHING myself.. so dont think im another rich subaru kid.. i those are the worst.. so ya not me.. lmk! thanks and im looking forward to joining you guys

dont get any options! waste of money. you can trade the trunk for a winged one if it has no spoiler cuz people like me want that for ower stis. and every thing else is to much $$ and you can get cheaper and do it your self. heat shields are a wase on a stock car cuz all the exhoust is allready wraped with heat shields plus your scoop blows cold air in the bay and keeps temps down.

Also, I would suggest a full turbo-back exhaust including the downpipe and a Cobb Accessport tune for the largest gains at lowest costs... This seems to be a relatively easy mod with potential for 25-50 hp gains depending on the product!

Just my 2 cents as i enjoy the immediate difference this change has given me!

-The best way to get exhaust is to lurk on this board and wait until someone decides to sell theirs.
-Most of the cars the dealers get have spoilers. If you want the giant STi spoiler, get one with no spoiler and trade some STi guy like fobia said.
-I was told that there's cheaper and better short shifters than the STi one.
-06-07's make LOTS of power with a full exhaust on them. They spool much quicker than the 2 liter motors.
-Leave your new engine stock for the first 3000 miles or so so it gets broken in well.
-Go read a bunch of the sticky threads on nasioc.com to answer all common n00b questions.

try to get an 06 if you can. 07 removes all the aluminum suspension pieces that only the 06 got because the market price of aluminum went through the roof. 07 also has those awful chromed tail lights that the 06 didn't have (matte grey on 06)

Most of the 07 colors are worse (more subdued and generic) than their 06 counterparts. Especially the red and white.

Agreed (not just bc I have an 06). For the wrx I would take 06 over 07 for the above reasons. Also, you may be able to save a little more money if you can find an 06 and will only be sacrificing warranty (which will be mostly gone once you start modding anyway) and resale value. For the STI tho, I would take the 07 gearing over the 06, despite the claims of poor factory mapping for the 07.

Also agree to leave out the factory options. Especially if yr looking to modify the car.

Yes, em is not a warranty friendly mod. I'm not sure if there is a 07 version AP out yet. If you are the type that wants to commit insurance fraud (I hope yr not) it should be able to back-up the original ecu so the "return to stock" maps should be just that.

With em and at least a downpipe for exhaust, the wrx should be running mid 13s depending on driving and track conditions. I would keep a closer watch on the driveline (and axle nuts since they seem to like backing off) at Cobb stage2 levels tho as wtq will be in the upper 200s.

    thanks guys!

and 2.5rs is a friend, just joking around...

anyway i dont want a sti spoiler, just the wrx one on the newer models looks better with it i feel.

And after thikning about the lease and what not im thinking about just buying a used 02-05 wrx :( its the best deal because with a lease ill be making the same payments for the same time.. and then have to buy the car again with more payments and interest.. so **** leases..

so 02 wrx, fll cobb turbo back exhaust, headers, tuning, suspension, and hopefully itll be a fun car.. i know the 06-7 make a lot more power but oh well i can get one later cause this is what i can afford..

so anyideas for an 02? oh ya no warranty.. so w/e goes :)

you can get alot more bang for the buck for exhaust if you look places other then cobb, any bellmouth downpipe will work fine. headers you wont need till you make mega power

not all trannies have been abused.... find a car from an older person... buy smart.. i have an 03 and it has been a real fun car from stock till now.. I have basic stage 2 minus bell mouth dp (made my own), currently I am running about the same power as a stock STi... only withouth the torque of the 2.5....

    Look out of state too...

Not sure on the pricing, but I noticed a WRB 04 STI at a small used car dealership inbetween Burnsville and Savage on county road 13!!! Looked stock and very clean! I just personally didn't take time to really investigate that closely since I am currently happy with my 04 REX!!!

Sometimes you can wheel and deal with the smaller guys to get a price break or possibly better financing options... Just figured I'd give ya a heads up... When I pass by again I'll check out the name of the place since I'm sure they may have an website to check out for some pics/prices!

You definetly NEED a Subie! :)

i know i need a subie.. im currently working with a guy on here with a 93 converted to a wrx/sti in the yellow :) its got some nice mods to it and fullcoverage while financing will be a lot less and i got approved for the loan etc.. so i might be picking that up if he gets back to my pms.. but otherwise the hunt for a white 02-05 wrx around 15k will continue.. im pretty dead set on subarus cause a)the exhaust note b) i miss awd and turbo even though i JUST got rid of my galant vr-4.. its just not a subaru and c) i hear you guys have some fun times at meets etc and id like to do rally racing because drifting is a blast ont get me wrong.. but rally racing is the ****.. so expect to see me at some races once i get this thing up and running nice.. no matter the subie i get..

so thanks guys for your input so far.. ill keep in touch and i assume being subie owners you guys have year round meets? if so ill start making em as soon as i pick it up. so ya itll most likely be that yellow one assuming we work something out and you guys reccoend otherwise cause you knwo the dude and what not but ive heard nothing but good about it..

    adios

I believe you are talking about Zak (esperunit) he has a wrx conversion... its a sweet ride... very well done... I rode in it once.. its a race car alright... personally a DD it may not be the best but that depends on taste... 10 yrs ago I would have said hell yeah... as the cars I drove had really stiff suspension as well.... it is truly a nice piece of car....

my 240 is set on full stiff dampening with a track tuned suspension 9/7k spring rate with many suspension components, stripped, with racing seats and harnesses and thats my daily right now..

is it more or less comfortable then that? also he has the colovers removed from it..

but i CAN use it as a daily driver and a track car like my 240 if i sacrafice a little from my daily needs.. but if it will ru fine rom point a to b.. then im for it.. theres a couple others im looking at but his gets my vote for originality

I picked up a new WRX for under 24 out the door after TTL. And mine's pretty well equipped. I could get the power of an STi after a grand of upgrades. Alot cheaper insurance too, along with full warranty. I'm happy with my choice of the new WRX over a used STI.
