So basically here is how the story goes. I drive a 07 XT and my father's GF really likes it, they are looking for an SUV and read that the forester got good marks based upon consumer reports. I talked to them tonight and they asked if would go to the dealership to look with them. They said that they perhaps were looking at an outback too. I recommended buying used but she prefers new as then you know where it is coming from. That being said I was curious if anyone knows anyone at minnetonka subaru is whois pretty straight forward and they could vouch for. It would be nice to get a good price on it with out all the haggling...so someone who is willing to give us the bottomline up front rather than being that sleezy salesman with the "thats as low as I can go" **20 minutes later** "let me check with my manager" Not looking for any deals or hook-ups or anything like that, just looking to cut the BS and get this done as painlessly as possible. Let me know what you think and if you have any questions or if I can clarify anything Thanks
go see scott putnam at morries minnetonka. he's a forum member on here and is an excellent guy to work with. I was just there today talking with him.
I also work at Morrie's Minnetonka Ford, and am able to sell off our other lots for used inventory. So if there is something like that you're after or just have questions I can sure help. To let you know Morrie's is a best priced store, so you don't have to worry about the haggling, as they are offering you their best price up front. They also ofer some really cool stuff like free oil changes, car washes, a return policy, and a lot of stuff. It's a stand up operation. Let me know if I can help.
Minnesota is also a non-haggle state, so the price on the window is the price of the car. So at tonka the bottom line is on the window. There might be a couple of loopholes around that, but it is up to your sales guy if they will look into it. Russ
Is Scott the fleet salesman at Morrie's again? He was when we bought our '97 Outback from him. See him.
Maybe I am mistaken, but the subbie dealership in brooklyn park is morries as well right? I guess it could have been an isolated incident but when we went to look at 2.5RS' a couple years back the guy was all about haggling it was kind of a pain in the @$$ as we were really just looking. Again maybe an isolated incident or maybe he knew the loopholes or maybe things of changed. As I said before, just trying to get them to the bottom line with out all the funny bizz... I am probably very skeptical and that is the issue. I will let them know that you all have recommended Scott and tell them to ask for him.
Can you point to any link showing Minnesota is a "no-haggle" state? I have searched and found nothing; the only place I have heard about it is here on mnsubaru. Maybe I'm wrong, but as I understand it, the law applies like so: If the dealer declares themself a no-haggle dealer, then they must offer the same price to everyone, and by law are not allowed to negotiate. But if the dealer does not advertise themself as "no-haggle" then it is business as usual. Morries, Walser = no-haggle Luther = haggle
