looking at roof rack options

I just got a 2000 forester L which will be fully replacing my car once it sells. The forester has the factory rack system with cross bars. My ideal setup could hold 4 snowboards and a couple mt bikes in summer. I would like to use the existing rack since I don't see anything wrong with it. I went to ski hut in duluth and they didn't have any yakima adapter pieces that would allow me to mount mt bikes by the fork (only straight up with the front wheel still attached) but the board setup looked decent. So where would I look for pieces to hold what I want to and maybe a fairing. Or should I ditch the stock one and go full aftermarket rack? I don't want to spend a ton of money on this setup but If I must I will have the extra $ when the wrx sells. suggestions?
