alright, i just picked up my winter beater/ice racer and unfortunately it's an auto, but i am trying to see if i can fairly cost effectively round up the parts for a auto to manual swap.

car is a 95 impreza lx, so parts for 90-94 legacys will also work for me.

    here's what i'm looking for:
    1. tranny (cable style) and matching diff.
    2. driveshaft
    3. clutch and brake pedal combo
    4. shift linkage
    5. speedo and clutch cable.
    6. clutch (have flywheel) also flywheel and clutch bolts.

i may or may not need a tranny and rear diff, as i can use the one that's in my white car at the moment, but i would need to get the stuff to switch my new tranny from hydro to cable( mount for cable and clutch fork). this depends on if i find a good deal on a tranny and rear diff.

so if anyone has parts laying around let me know, i'm hoping to get it a manual before the ice races.

Do WRX parts work? I have a pdeal assembly, rear diff, and shift linkage. You can have a clutch and pressure plate for free too.

most of the stuff will not work as the wrx stuff uses a hydraulic clutch, i believe wrx's are push style clutches while the cable tranny's are pull style.

    thanks for offering though.

I will be tearing out my 5MT system in the next couple weeks, for a 6MT :) I have a '93 Legacy L, 5 speed, 4.111 final drive. I'll be removing: tranny, driveshaft, rear diff, pedal assembly, cable, shift linkage, flywheel and clutch. My clutch has about 100k on it, but you'll want a new one while you're in there. A new clutch disk, pressure plate, release bearing and pilot bearing can be found for about $160 (maybe less). I'll be keeping my stub axels, speedo cable and spedometer. The rest is up for grabs. Chux MAY want some of it, so lay claim soon. Oh, it'll be cheap BTW.

The 1-2 shift isn't the best when the tranny is real hot, but I haven't tried Uncle Scottie's Tranny Cocktail yet. If you come up to these parts, you could drive my car if you want, but time is running short.

P.S. - Turbo cars are all pull clutches while N/A are push. To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a hill-holder offered with a pull clutch.

get a hill holder from a turbo forester. it should work, and will be cheaper then getting one from a old legacy (atleast new from the dealership).

cant help on the drive shaft.

as for the hill holder. IIRC when i looked at the diagram it appears that there is a seperate cable that runs from the clutch to the hill holder system. essentailly it is the same as the old legacy one, but it has some revised mounting points and what not.

i don't need anything on a hill holder, i'm not sure where that came from, i never had asked about needing it, thanks though, my local junkyard can get me a driveshaft shipped in but i wanted to try a bit more before i have them do it.
