Looking for a car that I once owned

I was wondering if anyone here knew of a way to track a car that I once owned, and would like to get back? I beleive that I still have the VIN. I have heard that it is much harder to go to the licensing office and get information on a vehicle due to privacy laws.

Any ideas?

 

try to figure out who ou sold it to and go from there?

 

I sold the car to a dealership that sold it to a wholesaler

I tried, the dealship claimed that thy didn't keep records that far back on a car that they had wholesaled out, I'm sure thy probably had a record but I don't think that they say any way that it was in their best interest to help me.

Actually I was wondering whose Rex I had (purchased from Morries BC), and who bought the one the rex that I returned to Morries Minnetonka (WRB 02 with bodywork on the right rear and ADR fiive spoke rims), I brought that car back after 3 days because it kept popping out of reverse!

 

Maybe carfax would help too?

 

yep. Car fax tracks its owners, including dealerships I believe. It doesnt say their name, but will let you know if it was private or a business.

 

carfax won't really help because of privacy issues the information that I need is not available, I'm not sure if the Minnesota DMV can really help because the car had wisconsin plates when I traded it. I have tried to post to a car forun for the type of car but it must have been aquired by somone whow was not a part of the community. I think I need a way to step around the privacy laws
