I like the idea of going through the same guy every time, and I'd really prefer an advisor that was an enthusiast as well. Bloomington Acura/Subaru is closest to me, but I am totally willing to drive the extra distance for someone who really knows their stuff.

And yes, it would be great if this person was somewhat "lenient" when it comes to light modifications while keeping the car under warranty. By light, I mean maybe an AP flash, exhaust, and possibly a downpipe. Right now, the car is stock except for a Kartboy short shifter. I will gladly keep the car stock though, if necessary, to maintain the factory warranty.

    Thanks guys!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you are looking for a Subaru dealership that is willing to service your vehicle under warranty, with light mods. In particular, you're looking for a person who works in the service department who is willing to advise you on maintenance and modification of your Subaru.

Best place for that in Minnesota is Morrie's Minnetonka Subaru.

Or are you looking for just a person that doesn't necessarily work at Subaru dealership, who is willing to advise you with your Subaru?

I believe that you are correct on this. Their service department is very dingy and unkept looking. I had no choice for the visit I just made because I had an SPT boost gauge installed, which was part of the deal when I bought my car. They were also supposed to fix a really bad speaker rattle at the same time. They had my car for 8 hours, which was 4 hours or so longer than they said it should take. On top of that, the rattle is still there just as bad. (And no, I'm not being picky about the rattle. It rattles every time the speaker moves, even at low volume.)

I am looking for a Service Advisor at a Subaru dealership who is knowledgeable of WRX/STIs, a car enthusiast (not someone who works there just because it's a job and you get paid, and drives a rusty Dodge pickup truck year-round), and someone who won't immediately call SOA and void my warranty because I have a short shifter or exhaust.

I am fully aware of what services I will need and when I need them. I have always done my own maintenance and mods. This time around, though, I'll be doing many services at the dealer because this is my first brand new car and I want documentation of all work that gets done.

Talk to either mike or mike at minnetonka, or come back to parts and talk to me if you are unsure of which service advisor to deal with.

Thanks for the suggestions on Minnetonka Subaru!

It looks like this post really seals the deal. If I go down there though, who do I ask for in parts? ("Hi, I'm looking for Mr. AWDimprezaL" )

I also work in parts. I'm at Feldmann Nissan. Perhaps we've already spoken and didn't know it, but I'm guessing you guys call Wayzata Nissan if you ever need Nissan stuff.

We usually call BP nissan as they are another Morries store :)

    Ask for Erik.

+1 on Morries Minnetonka. I actually had a speaker rattle in my 2010 WRX. They took care if it no questions asked. They have been really great about everything.
