I started getting a CEL tonight when driving home and my car would jerk violently around 4500 RPM. I wanted to Pull my CEL using my Tactrix cable, but I do not seem to be able to get the ECU to show as connected in ecuexplorer. My car was tuned by Bullwinkle more than a year ago for references, no engine changes since. the car is a MY03 WRX with a TBE. Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do to connect ecuexplorer, do i need to connect the white block just to read cels or log? Thanks in advance!
as a little added information it seems like every time I plug the cable in I get an install message for the driver, windows seems to have problems with the driver signature (it installs anyway) and the com port sets to com7, if I open up Romraider the driver seems to reinstall and the com port gets set to com4?
sorry I didn't reply back to your pm go onto romraider's forum and find a program called Learning View Use that to scan the cel make sure you have ecuflash installed for the drivers of your cable. and you don't need the jumper blocks installed nor the green connectors
I tried updating drivers and several other things, I am still not able to connect to my ECU, the loght seems to go red when I try to connect and the only thing I can do is disconnect the cable at both ends and reconnect it to get the blue/green flashing light? anybody have any ideas what I am doing wrong? Is there anyone close to the EP hood that could take a peek for me?
i could come take a look after work this afternoon. im gunna try n get outa work around 3ish if u wanna shoot me a txt or call im pming you my #
Thanks for the help so far from everyone, seems like the problem with the cel was a loose connection at my MAF, anyway I still seem to have problems with my cable, tactrix seems to suggest that there is a driver that should be installing? I don't get the result they are talking about. Honestly I haven't used the cable much since Bullwinkle tuned my car, and the last time I tried it I was trying to log to a SD card. See the email below, any ideas? Hi Harlow- If you attempt to use the cable, and the light turns red, usually accompanied with "duh-duh" sound that windows makes when a new USB device is plugged in, this probably means that our drivers are attempting to upgrade your firmware to the latest version. The first time this happens, the Openport appears a new device - a "Tactrix Bootloader" - you will be prompted to install drivers for this new device, but all you need to do is choose all of the defaults and hit "next". Once this second driver is loaded, the Openport will complete the firmware update and will go on to do the function you originally were requesting it to do. After that, and further firmware upgrades will not require and driver prompts. Colby
