Hey guys. I'm new to the forum. I'm sorry to say this is my first post here. I have reason to believe the thief was familiar WRX's or Imprezas in general. Seems like he knew exactly how to remove the trim and open the rear seat to get to the subs. Hence my long-shot post here. What was taken: Pioneer avh-x8500bhs double din receiver grey sub enclosure containing twin 8" kicker comp vr subs w/ Alpine mrv m500 250watt amp attached Stuff was taken from my parking garage in Highland Park, Saint Paul. If anyone has any information that helps me locate my stuff I would appreciate it with an amazon giftcard sent to your email address. This: Became this:
Check Craigslist and any other FS message boards. It's bound to pop up. Did you file a police report? my avh-x1500dvd was ripped out of my rex last year. I ended up getting a check from my insurance with the receipts I had reprinted at best try. Good Luck.
Heh yeah I did. I've been searching Criagslist almost obsessively since it happened Tuesday night. Unfortunately my comp deductible is out of reach to help much with this situation. My wifes car was busted into and I hit a deer, and then this within a 4 month period. All minor(ish) instances that have added up. :/ Doesn't help I'm trying to save money for my kid who's due in May. Hope that guy generates some serious bad karma.
Do you own or rent? Go through home owners/renters insurance, or your auto? Mine was ripped off out of a "secured entry" parking garage and my renters insurance covered it. Could be worth a try?
After having an aftermarket stereo stolen, I have never upgraded the factory unit again. No need for the paranoia and the headaches. The thief that stole this one might just come looking for your replacement in a month since he knows you will be getting another one. At least postpone the "attraction" until you have secure, private, overnight parking available. Thieves suck. Most effective countermeasure is to not have anything they want.
Yes, tried this. Car was parked in a restricted entry garage beneath my apartment. Basically anything that's considered part of the car isn't covered. Would have been nice because that deductible is half my auto.
So, just curious.....does an alarm do anything now days, or do the theives bypass them? I remember during my sport compact days, you could pull back the quarter panel, snip some wires, and your were in. Never had my car stolen, but they jacked my deck. That was an underground parking garage as well. Usually these are inside jobs. Bastards.
+1 - I suspect this to be an inside job as well. And I've come to the conclusion that the purp probably didn't intend to sell because I had a couple other things in the car he could have taken for that as well. :/ I also found out yesterday that the bastard likely used a screwdriver to bust the window because he pried on the window frame and bent the metal.
They used a crowbar with mine and damaged the frame. didnt bust my window but i had to get weather stripping all over my car. insurance estimated $1200 in damages when i had glass covered.
This happened to my wife back in the day. Some one "broke in" to the secured parking and stole a bunch of radios and stuff, my wife's included. (Thankfully they life mine alone) the. She dropped her cell in the parking lot, and someone turned it in to the office. Then a chick from the office took it to her friends apartment and started making calls at around 9 at night. We called it. Heard it ring and knocked on the door (dang we were stupid kids!) well office chick got fired. (She lied to the manager about being there with the the "stolen" phone And they let us out of our lease. (We were 4 months in) All I'm saying is, check when the keys/codes etc to the garage have been changed. The office staff had no idea when the Keyes were last changed in ours. And according to the police, it was a monthly occurrence, and cars were much safer outside in the lot than they were in the underground parking.
Nature has a way to get back at the idiots in the world that takes what not theirs, It is just a Hassel for the honest folk to deal with it. What comes around go's around.
