May be looking for a new catback soon, and interested in the SPT option. Looking to see what is available. Feel free to PM or post reply. Thank you in advance!

SPT exhaust for GD chassis are hard to find. I would suggest expanding your search to Nasioc and other websites.

How close is the STI factory axleback to the SPT piece? I'm thinking the former might be easier to find, there might be a few GD STI owners on the board with their OEM axleback sitting in their garage...

I'm definitely open to that as well. Would you be able to add that to the title?

My end goal is to have a quieter exhaust, without sacrificing power due to restriction... Definitely open to different options.

And the Whisper isn't quiet enough for you? I thought it was supposed to be one of the quietest options out there for a 3"? Otherwise you may need to think about something like a maddad 3" to 2.5" intermediate pipe, with an STI axleback. I remember hearing that the SPT is not very quiet at all, so I guess I'm a little confused...

It is quiet in comparison to my GReddy EVO 2 that I had before this, but I am hoping to make it even quieter. I had heard a WRX at the RS event day, and loved the way that sounded, and it was a SPT system with DP if I remembered correctly. Maybe I will have to get out and hear a few more in person (the videos have been no help in true gauging). I do like the idea of the STi axel back, and the to find and adapter for that. Maybe that is more of what I am looking for? Sorry for the confusion.

If your DP is catless, and theirs was catted, that could be affecting your perception of the catback sound?

I have a catless aftermarket DP on my Forester with a stock STI exhaust. It has a nice grumble sound to it, but isn't annoying at all for a DD. How much power are you making? If it isn't a bunch, you should be okay with an STI axleback. The further away from the turbo you get, the less the restriction matters.

Not totally sure what the power is at right now, but it is definitely not big power. I'd guess mid to high 200s, right now (2.1 build from NF). I think right now my number one would be the STi catback/axle back, with the SPT as a second choice.

I would either go with an STI catback, a COBB or some other catback with a full muffler and a resonated mid section. I seriously doubt you need a 3" catback for the power you are putting down.

Unfortunately, most of the "Quiet" catbacks that were good are no longer being made.

STI stock or COBB seem like they would both be good options.
