I need the timing belt/ water pump done on my car. Whether I sell it or not, it needs to be done very soon. I might as well put in the clutch I have sitting around as well. This means pulling the whole engine. I'm hoping to start some Thursday or Friday evening and have it running again later in the weekend. I could use some help from those of you with prior knowledge (I'm looking at you Lee). And anyone else willing to skin some knuckles would be welcomed.

    Tools I will need:

O2 sensor sockets (I'll prob. rent from AdvanceAuto)
Torque wrenches 3/8" drive and 1/2" drive most likely
Engine hoist/cherry picker. I do have a fixed pulley in my barn, but I don't know how well it will work to pull an engine.
Someone to be a gopher (go-for) - if I need additional tools or parts (or beer).

I haven't ordered all my parts yet. I also need to clear one of the next coming weekends with my wife so someone can watch the boy.

We can do some stump burning/bonfire, grilling, and sit around and drink beer.

    looking for handraisers in Rochester.

You know were I work so if you need something let me know. My co-worker has a Picker if you need, I'm sure he won't have a problem letting you use it. If I'm not working or tied up with the kids I'm always willing to help out. Just let me know Pat

**** homey, you've got my number. Why didn't you just call me?

O2 sensor sockets (I'll prob. rent from AdvanceAuto) - I've got a set.
Torque wrenches 3/8" drive and 1/2" drive most likely - I've got a 3/8" drive, should be sufficient.
Engine hoist/cherry picker. I do have a fixed pulley in my barn, but I don't know how well it will work to pull an engine. - That pulley system will work fine with a little work. I've also got a tranny jack that might work as well.
Someone to be a gopher (go-for) - if I need additional tools or parts (or beer). - NEED BEER

When do you want to do this?

I have the parts in a shopping cart at RockAuto - making sure other monetary needs are taken care of first. Then I need to clear time with the boss. Potentially next week would be best - before Memorial day and before the summer heat sets in.

Turns out I was wrong again. The wife doesn't know what the first weekend means. She actually meant the weekend of the 8th.

Just unplug the o2 sensor, no need to pull it off the exhaust

I plan to starting wrenching Thursday evening and I have Friday off of work.

If anyone can come help, let me know so I have enough "supplies" (send a PM or text if you have my number). I will have beer and soda in the mini-fridge. I also just picked up 30# of hamburger from my parents.

Still need a go-fer? I don't know much about fixing these cars, but would be willing to help and learn at the same time.
Plus it would be cool to meet some other Rochester Subaru owners.

    probably start around 7ish.
need: torque wrench(s), engine lift chain/strap, O2 sensor socket, maybe some impact sockets, KNOWLEDGE

Step 1: drain coolant (should the car be elevated on wheels or blocks?)

speaking of gophers - I have some smoke bombs to use on a few gopher holes. my brother in law will be bringing his .40 glock 27, I have 12 gauge and 10/22 ruger on hand... die you gopher scum!

Many thanks to Blackozone for helping me this weekend. Quite a battle, but only one sheared bolt and one missing bolt.
